Sep 9, 2014 -- Leaders of Europe’s National Mapping, Cadastral and Land Registry Authorities will meet in ChiÈ™inău, Moldova later this month for EuroGeographics General Assembly.
More than 100 geospatial specialists are expected to attend the high-level conference which will focus on the contributions national geoinformation organisations can make to the future of Europe.
“Society’s expectations of our members are changing,” says Ingrid Vanden Berghe, President of EuroGeographics. “The European Location Framework (ELF) is our response to the demand for one access point to national reference datasets and services.”
“This annual event is a unique opportunity to bring together senior officials from our member organisations. We look forward to sharing experiences, finding out the latest news from the ELF project and hearing how members are continuing to meet the ever-changing needs of data users.”
Dr Vanessa Lawrence CB, Secretary General, Ordnance Survey International and Co-Chair UN-GGIM will deliver the keynote presentation. Other guest speakers include: Ms. Stela Mocanu, Director of e-Government Centre, Moldova; Anatolie Ghilas, General Director, State Agency for Land Relations and Cadastre, Moldova;
Alessandro Annoni, Head of the Spatial Data Infrastructures Unit, Joint Research Centre; Chris Steenmans, Head of Programme, Monitoring, Data and Information, European Environment Agency; and Joep Crompvoets, Secretary-General, EuroSDR.
The 2014 General Assembly, on 29 and 30 September, coincides with the 20th anniversary of its hosts, the State Agency for Land Relations and Cadastre, Moldova and will conclude with the election of a new President and management board members. It will be followed by the first plenary meeting of UN-GGIM: Europe on 1 October.
