The Art Institutes Tackle Higher Education Affordability with Art Grant Program

School system invests in students to help them complete their education and move into creative careers

PITTSBURGH, Sept. 11, 2014 — (PRNewswire) —  The Art Institutes, a system of over 50 schools across North America offering programs in design, fashion, media arts and culinary, today announced a new and innovative program to help reduce students' debt, encourage smart borrowing, and improve the affordability of higher education. The Art Grant gives students the opportunity to earn and apply grant money toward their tuition--rewarding them for successfully completing course credits and progressing toward graduation.

Through the program, which will launch at 11 Art Institutes locations beginning Oct. 1, students earn grant funding for every 12 course credits earned while maintaining continuous enrollment status, regardless of their program of study.  An eligible associate degree student may earn up to 15 percent (between $6,400 and $6,900) of their tuition in grant funding over the course of their studies and an eligible bachelor's degree student may earn up to 20 percent (between $17,300 and $18,600) of their tuition in grant funding over the course of their studies at The Art Institutes. Students must meet all conditions to qualify.

This is the latest effort in higher education affordability from The Art Institutes which awarded more than $100 million in scholarships to students over the last year.  The education system will also maintain The Art Institutes Tuition Scholarship at its other locations, which awards qualified students up to $15,000 toward tuition in their program of study, as well as other financial assistance programs.

"The Art Institutes is making a creative education more affordable than ever—and rewarding dedicated students financially through affordability efforts such as The Art Grant. We are dedicated to working with students to encourage smart borrowing.  With The Art Grant, we're actively supporting responsible students by helping them to complete their education and move into a career," said Timothy Moscato, chief operating officer of The Art Institutes. "These grants provide a sizeable incentive for students while reducing the cost of obtaining a higher education."

The Art Grant will be available to students enrolled in associate and bachelor's degree programs at the following locations: The Art Institute of Portland; The Art Institute of Seattle; The Art Institute of Las Vegas; The Art Institute of California--Hollywood, a campus of Argosy University; The Art Institute of California--Inland Empire, a campus of Argosy University; The Art Institute of California--Los Angeles, a campus of Argosy University; The Art Institute of  California--Orange County, a campus of Argosy University; The Art Institute of  California--Sacramento, a campus of Argosy University; The Art Institute of  California--San Diego, a campus of Argosy University; The Art Institute of  California--San Francisco, a campus of Argosy University; and The Art Institute of  California--Silicon Valley, a campus of Argosy University.
