Vanguard Video to Demonstrate a 4K OpenCL Graphics Accelerated Encoder Using the Intel® Core™ i7 Quad-Core Processor with Iris™ Pro Graphics at IBC 2014

AMSTERDAM — (BUSINESS WIRE) — September 11, 2014 — At IBC 2014, Vanguard Video, a leading provider of professional, broadcast quality video compression technology, will be demonstrating V.265-Gx, a high efficiency OpenCL graphics accelerated 4K H.265/HEVC real-time encoder using the Intel® Core™ i7 Quad-Core processor with Iris™ Pro graphics. Utilizing only half of the computational power from the CPU, V.265-Gx is capable of real-time encoding of 4K live captured video at unparalleled broadcast quality.

Powered by the Intel Core i7 Quad-Core processor with Iris Pro graphics, V.265-Gx capitalizes on the graphics execution units inside Intel’s Iris Pro graphics to offload specific HEVC encoding tasks. These modules implement advanced video compression algorithms redesigned specifically for parallelizing mathematically intensive encoding tasks in OpenCL.

“We are very excited to work with Intel to showcase a more efficient, cost effective H.265/HEVC video encoder,” said Raul Diaz, Vanguard Video CEO. “OEMs have been looking for a viable solution for broadcasting 4K content and by utilizing Intel’s latest generation CPU and graphics processor we are able to significantly increase the efficiency of H.265/HEVC encoding.”

“Intel’s 4th generation Intel® Core™ i7 Quad-Core processor with Iris Pro graphics provide power effective platforms for our ecosystem to offer innovative H.265/HEVC encoding products and services,” said Zach Hamm, Director Media & Display Strategy and Planning, Intel Visual Computing Group. “We are pleased to be working with Vanguard Video to demonstrate real-time 4K H.265/HEVC encoding that take advantage of both Intel's integrated CPU and graphics processors.”

Vanguard Video is demonstrating this technology at IBC 2014 in Hall 13, MS4. To schedule a meeting click here.
