It's time to hit the books. InformationWeek's University program starts this Tuesday, September 16, with a special class on cloud computing options, hosted by guest lecturer Joe Masters Emison.

NEW YORK, Sept. 15, 2014 — (PRNewswire) — It's September, and that means it's time to head back to class and hit the books. For IT professionals, executives, and CIOs who are interested in learning a lot more about the latest in technology, InformationWeek has a special program for you.

UBM Tech.

Starting on September 16, join InformationWeek editor and radio host Curtis Franklin and special guest lecturer Joe Masters Emison as they kick off InformationWeek University with a high-level look at the current cloud computing market, what it means for IT, and how companies can best maximize this technology to help their bottom lines.

This session of InformationWeek University kicks off on Tuesday, September 16, at 2:00 p.m. EDT (11:00 a.m. PDT). For more information about all of the University courses, which run from September 16 through September 25, including curriculum and other information, click here. Each program comprises a 30-minute lecture featuring Franklin and Emison, as well as a 30-minute live chat where students can ask questions.

The current InformationWeek University program will focus exclusively on cloud computing, and will include topics ranging from the role SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS now play in the enterprise, to whether your company's data is at risk when it's stored and shared within the cloud.

The first lecture on September 16, called Introduction to Current Cloud Options, will introduce InformationWeek students to cloud computing, help define some common terms and themes, and offer advice to those who want to expand their cloud computing infrastructures.

Your guide for this and the rest of the series is Joe Masters Emison who started his IT career in 1996 by winning the Weird Software Contest with "Mutant Chicken Races." He went on to develop the first Windows-based iPod applications and then created the first BuildFax engines. He holds degrees in English and Mathematics from Williams College and a law degree from Yale Law School.

Please join Emison and Franklin this Tuesday for the first class of this special five-part series on InformationWeek. For more information about InformationWeek University, click here.
