Kalray revs up industry-leading Turbocard2 at SC14

High-performance computing gets big boost with world's first 1000+ CPU acceleration board

NEW ORLEANS, Nov. 17, 2014 — (PRNewswire) —  Kalray, the inventor of supercomputing on a chip™ for intensive and embedded high-performance computing applications is demonstrating its Turbocard2 acceleration board at the 2014 Supercomputing Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana, November 17-20.

Available now, Turbocard2 is based on Kalray's innovative MPPA® 256 manycore processors, running an unprecedented 1024 C/C++ fully programmable cores.

Kalray's acceleration board provides the highest computing performance for a sub-80W power budget, boasting nearly one teraflops (TFLOPS) of processing power and 500 giga instructions per second (GIPS). The result is the industry's best solution for boosting servers and workstations specifically used in oil & gas, computational finance, cryptanalysis, numerical simulation and bio-computing applications.

"We are excited to be demonstrating Turbocard2 at SC14," said Eric Baissus, CEO of Kalray. "Customers have been looking for an acceleration solution that meets their heavy and increasing computational demands while effectively managing power consumption, and now it is here.

"Performance is not all," continued Baissus. "The Kalray solution also dramatically reduces the complexity of adoption and time-to-market by providing a standard C/C++ development environment. We are proud to bring a revolutionary acceleration board to the market and invite everyone to see it."
