We invite you to play with our STEM projects at ACTE’s CareerTech VISION 2014!
Nov 17, 2014 -- In-House Solutions will launch their highly-anticipated Applied CNC STEM Activities curriculum during the Association for Career & Technical Education’s (ACTE) CareerTech VISION 2014.
When: November 19-21
Where: Gaylord Convention Center, Nashville, TN
Booth: 219
Three projects — the carousel, catapult and ruler — will be on display at the In-House Solutions’ booth throughout the show. Visitors will be encouraged to play with our completed project samples and browse through the accompanying project books.
The ground-breaking instructional program shows educators how easily they can incorporate STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) teachings into the learning environment. The curriculum integrates all four subjects using an applied approach based on real-world applications, and is designed to increase student interest in STEM-related fields such as engineering, oil and gas, computer science and marine technology.
Carousel Project
The Carousel Project focuses on Rotation Analysis and Building the Carousel. The project reviews the Rotation Analysis concepts, and then students will have an opportunity to learn how the carousel is designed and manufactured.
Catapult Project
The Catapult Project looks at Force and Newton laws and Building the Catapult. Beginning with a review of physics concepts related to Force and Newton’s laws of motion, students will then move on to the design and manufacture of a catapult.
Ruler Project
The Ruler Project begins with a review of mathematical concepts related to measurement and describes the tools used in everyday measurement. Featuring Basic Measurement and Building the Ruler activities, the project introduces students to the design and manufacture of a ruler.
Each project includes a selection of hands-on, STEM-oriented activities designed to keep students excited and engaged in the curriculum. Though the courses put an emphasis on manufacturing concepts, students also take part in research and journal writings that help enhance literacy skills. The material covered in the initial STEM curriculum puts an emphasis on Mill, 3D Printing and Laser Engraver applications in conjunction with Mastercam’s CAD/CAM and other CAD/CAM programs.
Suitable for secondary and post-secondary levels of learning, student and instructor editions are available. Student editions include lesson plans and worksheets, while the instructor editions include instructor STEM notes and guides, rubrics for each activity, exams and answer keys.
In-House Solutions’ Applied CNC STEM Activities are easy to incorporate into any STEM-oriented engineering class. They follow guidelines and requirements set by organizations such as the International Technology and Engineering Educators Association (ITEEA), and align to national standards.
STEM-related jobs are expected to employ more than 8.65 million people in the U.S. workforce by 2018. In response, educational institutions are feeling the pressure to keep up with an industry growing at an unprecedented rate. In-House Solutions’ U.S.-based curriculum is available in both generic and Mastercam versions, making it suitable for most educational institutions.
We’ve made STEM education easy with these complete, hands-on, interdisciplinary packages!
