Dassault Systèmes (Paris: DSY) (Euronext Paris: #13065, DSY.PA), the 3DEXPERIENCE Company, world leader in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions, 3D design software and 3D Digital Mock Up, announced today that PSA Peugeot Citroën has decided to significantly intensify the use of its DELMIA digital manufacturing applications to help simplify the innovation process of its body-in-white division. With this expansion, which provides end-to-end digital continuity between engineering and manufacturing, PSA Peugeot Citroën can now efficiently address right-first-time robotics planning.

Powered by the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, PSA Peugeot Citroën’s implementation now supports advanced robotics simulation, including feasibility and reachability studies and programs. This support of the earliest stages of production layout complements final assembly simulation, painting, powertrain, and stamping.

In order to notably improve manufacturability of vehicle parts that include openings, panels, structures and underbodies, PSA Peugeot Citroën wanted tighter product and process integration, so that teams can detect and correct potential manufacturing issues early in the development cycle. DELMIA Robotics simulation applications are bridging robot layout and their operation in production, dramatically simplifying space allocation, which helps to avoid potential errors and collisions that can lead to material waste and production re-do’s. By integrating robotics simulation on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, PSA Peugeot Citroën will increase its plant flexibility and fortify its modularization strategy by reinforcing standardization and production line reuse from one car program to the next.

“We decided to extend our use of the Dassault Systèmes portfolio to our body-in-white division to create a seamless, digital continuity between engineering and manufacturing which we believe is key to strengthen our overall business agility,” said Sébastien Gagnepain, Process and Digital Factory Coordinator, PSA Peugeot Citroën. “Using Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform for robotics, we will be able to reduce troubleshooting and cycle times by integrating the early stages of development. We are expecting significant productivity gains in tooling design, analysis time calculation and offline programming.”

“We are pleased to contribute to PSA Peugeot Citroën´s success by integrating their innovation processes on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform,” said Olivier Sappin, Vice President, Transportation & Mobility Industry, Dassault Systèmes. “Unleashing the synergies between engineering and manufacturing on a single, open and scalable platform is key to fortify zero-defect approaches and master today´s complexities of vehicle innovation. Leveraging our business experience platform, automotive OEMs have no limits in integrating the entire innovation eco-system, in order to realize productivity gains and to create the mobility experiences for today´s and tomorrow´s demanding customers across the globe.”
