Head of SBA and Local Community Leaders Highlight Baltimore's Advancements in Technology and Economic Development

Maryland Center for Entrepreneurship, Adcor innovating and creating jobs in Baltimore area

BALTIMORE, Dec. 5, 2014 — (PRNewswire) —  On Monday, December 8th, Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), Maria Contreras-Sweet, will visit Maryland Center for Entrepreneurship and Adcor—a manufacturer of high speed precision machining of metals, plastics and composite materials. Administrator Contreras-Sweet will highlight the Obama Administration's work to promote entrepreneurship in innovation and economic development.

Maryland Center for Entrepreneurship is expanding the state's innovation efforts through 3D Maryland—a state-wide leadership initiative to increase engagement between 3D printing and additive manufacturing and regional businesses, industry, and entrepreneurs.

Founded in 1990, Adcor currently supplies parts for Aerospace, Medical and Telecommunications industries and exports to Australia, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Korea, Mexico and the United Kingdom.  Adcor participates in SBA's HUBZone Program, which encourages economic development and employment growth in distressed areas by providing opportunities for firms to become active participants in the federal supply chain. Administrator Contreras-Sweet recently announced Destination: HUB, to promote and support companies like Adcor in federal contract opportunities.

SBA provides counseling, training and financing to support innovative technology and economic development. Last year, SBA provided over $193 million in financing to Baltimore small businesses.
