TranSystems' Doug Lynch, GISP, Promoted to Senior Professional

Cincinnati, Ohio, Jan 14, 2015 – TranSystems, an engineering and consulting firm that provides integrated solutions for transportation infrastructure challenges, announced the promotion of Douglas Lynch, GISP, to Senior Professional.

Lynch has 15 years of experience, and technically specializes in transportation geographic information systems (GIS) and planning. Lynch has worked on more than 200 transportation planning and engineering projects that span the US, as a project manager or GIS project manager. He also serves as the firm’s GIS national practice leader.

Lynch’s promotion was part of an annual process determined by the firm’s Partner Performance and Development Committee (PPDC) – a committee that was formed in 2003 to refine TranSystems’ leadership development standards by identifying a process for selecting the company’s future leaders.

As a nominee for Senior Professional, Lynch was ranked on three measures of performance 1.) client relationships and sales, 2.) management and operations, and 3.) specialized skills or subject matter expertise. Within these measures, employees may declare a specific track they intend to follow – management or technical expertise. Lynch has selected technical expertise/track focus.

Bob Campbell, TranSystems’ Principal in the Columbus office said, “Through Doug’s wide project experience, he has garnered the knowledge and expertise to make him a leading expert in his field worthy of being a senior professional partner. His expertise lends itself to serving several sectors in the transportation market that can apply his applications to asset management systems for a vast array of projects and efficiencies.”

Lynch has extensive experience with GIS project management and GIS development in the transportation, planning, land use, real estate and environmental fields. He brings a range of model programming, mapping and geospatial analysis expertise to his projects. He regularly presents at the Esri International GIS Users Conference, AASHTO GIS-T Symposium, and the Ohio Transportation Engineering Conference.  Lynch has also been the GIS Project Manager for ENR Magazine’s top-rated design project in the United States, the I-84 Hartford project.

“It is a tremendous honor to be a Senior Professional at a great company like TranSystems,” said Lynch. “Many have heard the famous quote, ‘You are what you do.’ Perhaps the more accurate phrasing is instead, ‘You do what you are.’ I truly love GIS and everything it encompasses with a passion and for how it can be used in the marketplace. Being a GIS professional is what I was born to do. I guess you could say that it is in my DNA. This passion, coupled with 15 years of extensive multi-modal transportation public and private planning and GIS integration experiences (including project management), has shaped the consultant I am today and prepared me to be a Senior Professional at TranSystems in addition to leading the GIS practice. With an industry leading group of GIS professionals specialized in transportation GIS, today we are a firm of choice to best serve our client’s GIS needs.”

Lynch earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Geography and his Associate of Science degree in Cartographic and Mapping Technology from Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Ky. He is registered as a Geographic Information Systems Professional from the GISCI and is a member of the URISA, GIS Certification Institute, American Planning Association and the Florida American Planning Association.
