TASC Awarded $25 Million Contract to Serve as Application Operations Services Provider for the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency

TASC to manage the business and technical aspects for soliciting, screening and acquiring mobile, web and desktop applications

CHANTILLY, Va., Jan. 23, 2015 — (PRNewswire) —  TASC has been awarded a contract by the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) to serve as its Application Operations Service Provider (AOSP). In this role, TASC will manage the business and technical aspects of soliciting, screening and acquiring Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) applications that pass U.S. Government (USG) criteria. The contract has one base year and three, one-year option periods, and is worth $25 million if all options are exercised.

The AOSP program addresses NGA's need to acquire mobile, web and desktop GEOINT applications as rapidly, cost-effectively and efficiently as possible. By implementing a more commercial acquisition approach, NGA expects to attract new sources of geospatial application innovation from academia, small businesses and independent developers that normally would not compete on USG contracts. The AOSP approach simplifies evaluation and provisioning of apps to a USG-hosted environment through a range of services, from translating business processes and educating developers to helping developers provide finished products that meet NGA requirements. The approach also saves taxpayers money and boosts private enterprise.

Amanda Brownfield, senior vice president of TASC's Intelligence Solutions and Analytics Sector, said, "TASC has a long history of successfully supporting NGA's critical programs. We are pleased to support NGA through the AOSP program, helping it bridge the gap between traditional government contracting procedures and non-traditional businesses. We hope to generate interest across a broad range of developers and bring NGA innovative products that fully address its security, performance and mission requirements."
