Trimble Acquires Linear Project to Expand its Heavy Civil Construction Project Management Capabilities

SUNNYVALE, Calif., March 5, 2015 — (PRNewswire) — Trimble (NASDAQ: TRMB) announced today that it has acquired privately-held Linear project GMBH, a leading provider of scheduling software for linear infrastructure projects. Linear project's TILOS time and location planning software is used worldwide and is ideal for highways, railways, pipelines, tunnels, water engineering, transmission line construction and other linear civil engineering projects. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Linear construction projects present unique challenges, because the work is not performed in a single location. TILOS software merges both the location and the schedule into one combined time and distance graphical view that changes dynamically as conditions change. By incorporating design details, construction challenges and the project schedule into one view, contractors, owners and civil engineers can plan and manage linear projects more effectively.

Recognizing the power of integrating planning and scheduling with operating and material cost information, Trimble has been collaborating with Linear project since 2014 to create 3D constructible model interoperability between its Business Center – HCE office software and the TILOS software. TILOS expands Trimble's portfolio of heavy civil construction solutions for corridors by adding time and cost into existing corridor workflow solutions, so stakeholders on linear construction projects can integrate TILOS planning and scheduling for time, location and resources capabilities with operating and material cost information from Trimble.

"TILOS software is a significant addition to our corridor solutions portfolio. With the addition of TILOS, Trimble can better address the needs of project owners, engineers and civil contractors by enabling them to closely manage operations and execute their projects on schedule and within budget," said Alan Sharp, business area director for Trimble Heavy Civil Construction software solutions. "The Linear project team brings a wealth of experience and an expansive customer base that includes many of the world's largest contractors and rail network operators. We are very excited to have them join Trimble."

"Linear project's TILOS software is used for linear scheduling of large infrastructure projects for rail, road, tunnel and pipeline projects. We now have the opportunity to leverage Trimble's geospatial technologies to record jobsite progress automatically. The addition of TILOS to Trimble's Heavy Civil Construction portfolio gives us the ability to collectively work on a more robust solution for linear infrastructure planning, execution and production control," said Hubert Geier, owner of Linear project.

About Linear Project

Linear project is a leading provider of linear scheduling software catering to a global market via multi-channel distribution, with headquarters in Karlsruhe, Germany. In 1998, two leading construction companies began the development of TILOS software to enable the effective planning and control of linear projects such as road, tunnels and track building projects by extending Gantt chart based project planning to time-distance diagram planning. Today, TILOS software is widely used on large, linear infrastructure projects globally.
