MainFrame2 Brings CAD Windows Applications Into the Cloud

Company Unveils BETA of End-User Product and Announces New Name at Develop3D Live

COVENTRY, UK – March 26, 2015 – Frame (previously Mainframe2), an innovator in virtualized software delivery and the leader in bringing Windows applications into the cloud instantly, today announced the public BETA of its new end-user product, furthering its leadership role in bringing the CAD industry into the cloud environment. Frame is exhibiting (Booths 8 and 9) at the Develop3D Live conference in Warwick, UK, as well as participating on a panel on the future of CAD in the cloud with other top industry executives.

Frame has pioneered “rich graphics apps in the cloud” with its platform already in use for more than a year by leading software vendors like Adobe and Siemens. More than 100,000 users have ran Windows apps from the cloud using Frame so far, with no cumbersome installation.

“Three years ago, we envisioned a platform that combines the best of the cloud’s flexibility with the power and reliability of desktop software,” said Dr. Nikola Bozinovic, Founder and CEO of Frame.  “Frame is the only platform that enables engineers and designers to install and run the CAD of their choice on any device. We’re excited to share it with the world for the first time at Develop3D Live.”

Today the company is making the following announcements:

  • It is unveiling the public BETA of its new Frame end-user product, that lets anyone quickly and easily move any Windows application into Frame’s secure cloud environment, automatically, with just a few clicks. Develop3D Live attendees will be the first to view the new BETA, which will go to market in Q2 2015.
  • It is shortening the platform name from Mainframe2 to Frame, in response to strong demand from end-users in CAD, Design, and AEC and reflective of the much broader audience.
  • It has received additional funding from Bain Venture Capital.
  • Frame CEO Dr. Nikola Bozinovic will be participating on a panel on the future of CAD in the cloud with Gian Paolo Bassi, CEO of SolidWorks, Jon Hirschtick, founder of Onshape and Mike Payne, CEO of Kenesto at Develop3D Live 2015.

Frame’s new end-user product will have universal appeal since it will allow people to move any Windows application to a Cloud environment instantly. The company has chosen to place its first focus on the CAD, Design and AEC industries because of its unique ability to handle even the most intense graphics tasks easily while preserving high quality.

Key features of Frame include full compatibility with any existing Windows software, the ability to connect to any PDM or cloud storage, and unrivaled graphics performance. Even the most demanding graphics tasks run smoothly from the cloud super-computer powered by NVIDIA GRID graphics.

“Seeing SOLIDWORKS running in a browser was unbelievable,” said Jared Conway, Professional Engineer from Hawk Ridge Systems, the #1 Worldwide SOLIDWORKS reseller.  “The cursor response was crisp and assemblies rotated smoothly even with RealView enabled.  Overall, the SOLIDWORKS experience on Frame was top notch.”

A limited number of Frame BETA accounts are being made available to the CAD community.  People interested in participating can sign up at www.fra.me or visit Frame at Develop3D Live booths 8 and 9.
