Ritsumeikan University Adopted Silvaco's Academic License

YOKOHAMA, JAPAN -- (Marketwired) -- Apr 22, 2015 -- Silvaco Japan Co., Ltd (Silvaco) announced that Ritsumeikan University has adopted Silvaco's Analog EDA tools in the curriculum of the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering in the College of Science and Engineering.

The department of Ritsumeikan University provides step-by-step education, starting from the basics of mathematics and electronic circuits, to specialties in computer, software, and applications for network communications as well as system LSI. To provide more enhanced practice in electronic circuit design and programming, Ritsumeikan University adopted all tools necessary for design and simulation from Silvaco, aiming to improve students' practical technical skills.

Contributing widely to research and education, Silvaco offers a special license program for academic and educational institutes by providing access to EDA and TCAD tools, which have been used by many research and educational institutes. All tools adopted by Ritsumeikan University have been incorporated in this program.

Tomohiro Fujita, Professor of Ritsumeikan University said, "We have been using SPICE in our classes, however, recent advanced technologies for electronic devices have caused various physical problems, and our design engineers need greater skills. We hope Silvaco's Academic License helps to facilitate a higher level curriculum, ranging from circuit simulation to circuit design, layout design and back annotations accounting for parasitic capacitance."

Iliya Pesic, President of Silvaco Japan said, "We are pleased that Silvaco's Academic License has been adopted in the Ritsumeikan University's curriculums. Silvaco's EDA and TCAD tools, available without any functional limitation, have been adopted by many academic and educational institutes.
