"Qualcomm is well-positioned to provide the most advanced connectivity, computing and interoperability for devices and machines in smart homes, automobiles, wearables and smart cities. Our technologies are already driving this new era of intelligent connectivity and computing, and we will continue to invest in these emerging segments."

Intelligent Connectivity for the Smart Home

For many people, the Internet of Everything will come to life in their homes, where dozens of devices, systems and things will be connected. Pairing the right mix of connectivity and computing capabilities is essential to address the varying needs of the IoE. Qualcomm Atheros offers a full suite of low power, feature-rich solutions that have connected more than 120 million smart home devices in the past year – including consumer electronics, appliances and lighting systems. Qualcomm Atheros is making Wi-Fi feasible for a multitude of new devices in the home and office; the platforms enable lower power to ensure better usage and simpler implementation with ease of configuration and interoperability. In addition, QCE's Qualcomm® AllPlay™ smart media platform, which is based on the AllJoyn® open source projects, a software and services framework from the AllSeen Alliance, has a network of 18 manufacturers and 18 music streaming service providers who have integrated or have announced plans to integrate AllPlay for wireless whole-home audio.

Customized Connectivity and Compute for Wearables

QTI is helping its customers innovate in the wearable segment by providing a fully integrated platform including low power processing, compact chipset form factors, support for range of sensors, and breadth of connectivity – 3G/4G LTE, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. Based on QTI's solutions, our customers already offer more than 20 wearable devices ranging from smart watches and fitness trackers to wearable cameras and digital eyewear shipping in more than 30 countries. Additionally, QTI has more than 20 new commercial designs currently in development, bringing new capabilities and user experiences to consumers.

Defining the Future of the Connected Car

QTI is transforming the in-car experience with technologies to connect cars and create a better, safer driving experience. Qualcomm Technologies has more than a decade of vehicle connectivity leadership, having delivered the first embedded 3G/4G solutions for automobiles, and QTI has now engaged with more than 40 connected car programs from more than 15 OEMs.

Today, there are more than 20 million connected vehicles deployed globally with QTI's Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ LTE and 3G modems, the most widely used wireless solutions for cloud-based entertainment, safety and security applications. The high speed, reliable connectivity provided by Snapdragon LTE modems is the cornerstone of next-generation, connected driver experiences, enabling navigation and infotainment services including real-time mapping, HD Video, multimedia streaming, gaming and more. Qualcomm Technologies' automotive solutions also include the Snapdragon 602A automotive-grade infotainment processor, Qualcomm Atheros' Qualcomm® VIVE™ QCA65x4 to support Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Dedicated Short Range Communication (DSRC), QTI's Qualcomm® WiPower™ wireless charging for consumer electronics in the car and Qualcomm Halo™ wireless charging for electric vehicles.

Intelligent Connectivity for Smart Cities

To help meet the needs of rapidly growing urban populations, QTI is delivering solutions for smart buildings, energy, infrastructure, transportation and other emerging municipal applications. The company is involved in more than 20 active engagements to provide smart, sustainable connectivity that helps cities modernize while reducing operational costs in areas including municipal Wi-Fi, water usage, recycling, lighting, transportation, energy and infrastructure. Cities around the world are implementing smart connectivity today, leveraging a full suite of QTI's solutions, including 3G, 4G, Wi-Fi, and small cells, as well making use of the AllJoyn open source project from the AllSeen Alliance in various industrial applications.

Connected Health Care at Scale

Qualcomm Life is building a large mobile health ecosystem, with approximately 500 customers and collaborators including Cerner, AMC Health, Roche and Walgreens. With the 2net™ Device Connectivity Platform, the HealthyCircles™ Care Coordination Platform and now HealthyCircles Mobile, Qualcomm Life is making connected health a reality by enabling seamless care from the hospital to the home. Qualcomm Life's transformational 2net and HealthyCircles Platforms are providing the scalable infrastructure for a new generation of connected health solutions and reaching chronic disease patients who need chronic care management tools the most. These technologies allow secure and reliable sharing, transmission, and cloud-based storage of health information. By liberating vital health and biometric data, Qualcomm Life is developing solutions that enable continuous care, informed interventions, and better management of at-risk populations.

Enabling Interoperability Among Devices

The AllSeen Alliance, of which QCE was a founding member, is a cross-industry consortium dedicated to enabling and driving the widespread adoption of products, systems and services that support the Internet of Everything with an open, universal deployment framework. The Alliance now counts more than 140 companies among its members, including Electrolux, Haier, LG, Microsoft, Panasonic, Sony, LIFX, Honeywell and many others. The Alliance is committed to growing IoE through the adoption of the AllJoyn open source framework that is platform, OS and hardware agnostic to enable seamless device discovery, connectivity and interoperability. Today there are 75 AllJoyn-enabled products, services, and applications that have been announced by Alliance members. QCE continues to actively participate in the Alliance, and Qualcomm companies use AllJoyn to solve for interoperability in segments such as smart home and smart cities.
