Internationally recognized concept artist, designer & distinguished alumnus Tim Flattery to head College for Creative Studies Entertainment Arts program

DETROIT — (BUSINESS WIRE) — May 28, 2015 — The College for Creative Studies (CCS) is pleased to announce the appointment of renowned film concept artist and educator Tim Flattery as Chair of its Entertainment Arts Department.

A 1987 graduate of CCS with more than 40 film credits to his name, Flattery’s background is impressive. He has worked with leading film directors, such as Steven Spielberg, Tim Burton, Robert Zemeckis and Brad Bird, on a number of high-profile film projects – including 80s blockbuster Back to the Future II, recent titles such as The Hunger Games and Captain America: Winter Soldier, and current #1 box office hit Tomorrowland, in theaters now, and upcoming films such as Star Trek 3, slated for release in 2016. In addition, he designed and supervised full-size construction of the Batmobile for Batman Forever and the Fantasticar for Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. Flattery has also dedicated his career to nurturing the next generation of entertainment designers, chairing the Entertainment Design department at Art Center College of Design before joining CCS.

“CCS is delighted to welcome home one of its most successful graduates to lead our Entertainment Arts department,” said Richard L. Rogers, president of the College. “Tim Flattery has had a huge impact on American movies. His extensive industry and teaching experience will bring our already strong Entertainment Arts department to new levels of excellence and provide our students with the best education possible for success in the entertainment field.”

Entertainment Arts, consisting of Animation, Game Design and Video, is CCS’s largest program. Its alumni are pursuing highly successful careers with companies such as Disney, Sony Pictures, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon and Dreamworks. CCS’s alumni network and the College’s connections to the entertainment industry give current students exposure to industry leaders and extensive opportunities for internships and job placements with a wide array of media companies.

“CCS is one of the best design schools in the country and gave me the skill set and confidence to build the career I’ve always envisioned,” said Flattery. “It’s a wonderful opportunity for me to return to my roots and instill the next generation of entertainment industry artists and designers with the same amazing guidance I received many years ago, but give them unparalleled access to industry experts that have thoughtful insight into this ever-evolving field.”
