ARCOM’s SpecText Now Specifies Industrial Wastewater Treatment

Salt Lake City, Utah (June 16, 2015) – ARCOM®, publisher of SpecText® leader in infrastructure specifications, introduces a new Industrial Wastewater Treatment Library to the Water/Wastewater Library for SpecText. This release marks the first commercially available wastewater specification system for industrial applications.

Written for small industrial and commercial plants, ARCOM provides civil engineers with master-guide specifications for the pretreatment of mineral-, organic-, and chemical-rich water. Pretreatment is a necessary component in order to connect with municipal sewer services.

“It is often not economical for most relatively small industrial and commercial plants to completely treat and discharge their own waste,” said David Furry, ARCOM’s Director of SpecText. “Therefore, they rely on the local municipal treatment plant like any user. The municipality’s sewer use ordinance, however, typically requires that the plants pretreat their wastewater to a prescribed level before discharging into the municipality’s collection system. This library is an answer to those requirements.”

Application of the Industrial Wastewater Treatment Library includes:

  • Metal plating industries
  • Tool and die shops
  • Wood mills
  • Restaurants
  • Schools and universities
  • Dry cleaners
  • Large processing plants
  • Power plants
  • Steel plants
  • Oil companies
  • Semiconductor plants

The user has access to 210 sections incorporating the current water and wastewater sections, and 12 one-of-a-kind specifications that relate specifically to industrial projects. This brings the total section count to over 220 sections. A separate add-on library will be available to clients who currently have a SpecText license.
