Improvements in functionality and performance released in nCode 11.1

New capabilities focused on vibration analysis and advanced data cleaning

Southfield, MI (USA), Rotherham (UK) – September 24, 2015. HBM nCode, developer of the leading brand of durability, test and analysis software, announces today the version 11.1 release of its software suite. The nCode 11.1 release offers substantial improvements in functionality and performance of the entire nCode software suite.

“nCode 11.1 focuses on improved performance and new capabilities for vibration excitation and data cleansing” says Paul Roberts, Product Manager at HBM nCode. “The updates in nCode 11.1 will allow nCode users to perform more robust and accurate testing and analysis.”

Frequency Domain. New capabilities for the frequency domain allow nCode users to perform more robust and accurate diagnostics of faults in rotating machinery. These features include the new Hilbert transform glyph, which calculates the amplitude envelope and instantaneous frequency content of a signal, and cepstrum analysis, which reveals the spacing between harmonic content of a signal. An example application of cepstrum analysis is detecting faults such as damaged teeth in gears from the vibration signature. Other enhancements for the frequency domain include the zoom transform, which increases the frequency resolution over a specified frequency band, and the ability to differentiate and integrate frequency spectra directly.

Advanced Data Cleaning. The addition of the Kalman Filter and Wavelet Denoising glyphs provides advanced data cleaning options that were not previously possible with classic filtering techniques. Wavelet Denoising is a technique for reducing the noise content of a signal even when the frequency content of the noise overlaps that of the underlying signal. Kalman filtering enables noisy measured data to be cleaned by using a physics model of the underlying process. By comparing the measured signal with the predicted signal based on the physics model, a better estimate of the actual data is available.

Standard Processes for nCode DesignLife. Pre-defined standard processes have been added in nCode DesignLife to decrease chances for errors, streamline processes and increase time savings. This new capability allows users to select an existing flow and to customize it according to their own process.

The new capabilities in nCode 11.1 will be discussed in a free webinar on October 7, 2015.
