Mobiveil Announces Its New 16G PCIe Gen 4 Controller IP (GPEX (TM)) With End-to-End Data Path Protection for High-Performance Enterprise Applications

MILPITAS, CA--(Marketwired - November 10, 2015) - Mobiveil, Inc. a fast growing supplier of silicon intellectual property (SIP), platforms and IP-enabled design services, today announced a complete, fully-compliant controller for PCIe Gen 4 with end-to-end data path protection for high performance enterprise applications. While supporting raw speed is essential, the new PCIe Gen 4 IP ensures configurability, reliability and serviceability, crucial for supporting such applications. The new PCI Express Controller is a highly flexible and configurable design targeted for implementations in server, storage, networking, telecom, and consumer applications. This PCI Express Gen4 IP complements Mobiveil rich portfolio of controller IPs including RapidIO, NVM Express, DDR Controllers, Flash controllers and LDPC.

"We are thrilled to offer the latest generation of PCI Express Gen 4 controller to our customers," said Ravi Thummarukudy, CEO of Mobiveil Inc. "Previous versions of our GPEX PCI Express IP enjoyed wide adoptions with major semiconductor and system companies and now we hope to build on our experience servicing this IP market for more than 10 years. Our IP offerings have a proven track record and have seamlessly integrated with all major PHY vendors. The PCI Express interface has seen a dramatic increase in demand, thanks to data centers installing rapidly increasing numbers of servers and solid state drives (SSDs). The availability of PCI Express Gen 4 will also provide processors targeting high performance applications much needed throughput."

PCI Express Gen 4 Protocol Interface

Mobiveil's new controller IP achieves the full PCIe Gen 4 16Gbs bit rate and is backward compatible with PCI Express versions 3.1, 2.0 and 1.1. Mobiveil offers all flavors of PCI Express including root complex, end point, and switch configurations. Mobiveil PCI Express controller also provides AXI interface for easy integration into SoC designs. In addition, the controller interfaces a wide variety of PHYs available from third parties. The controller accommodates PIPE (PHY Interface for the PCI Express) 16-bit, 32-bit and 64-bit in x1, x2, x4, x8 and x16. The new PCIe Gen 4 IP provides SR-IOV (Single Root I/O Virtualization) and ARI (Alternate Routing Interpretation) support.

Mobiveil's PCIe Gen 4 Controller architecture optimizes link utilization, latency, reliability, power consumption, and silicon footprint. It is compliant to Address Translation Services Revision 1.0 and supports configurable numbers of physical functions (PFs) and virtual functions (VFs) for SRIOV. It is architected for high link utilization and low latency, handles PCI-Express ordering rules, and implements flow control logic in both directions. The packet-oriented user logic interface also supports PIPE 4.3-compliant PHYs, and flexible lane ordering and support for lane reversal.
