Los Angeles County Expands Agreement with Tyler Technologies for EnerGov Platform

Los Angeles County Department of Public Works selects EnerGov for integrated data sharing across departments

PLANO, Texas — (BUSINESS WIRE) — November 12, 2015 — Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL) today reported that Los Angeles County, California, has expanded its agreement for Tyler’s EnerGov™ planning, regulatory and maintenance solution. Los Angeles County selected EnerGov in 2014 for the county’s Department of Regional Planning and has signed an amendment to include the Department of Public Works.

When selecting Tyler’s EnerGov permitting and land management platform, the Los Angeles County evaluation committee conducted a competitive evaluation process based on several considerations, including staff qualifications, project management methodologies, references, a series of live software demonstrations, and the platform’s commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) functionality.

The county contracted with an outside consulting firm for input before expanding its partnership with Tyler. The firm concluded that a single instance of EnerGov for both departments of Public Works and Regional Planning would enable seamless workflow and data sharing across departments.

“The expansion of Tyler’s EnerGov solution within Los Angeles County to include Public Works supports the county’s goals of operational effectiveness, community responsiveness and integrated service delivery by providing a permitting process that will be effective, provide better connected data, and improve collaboration across multiple departments involved in land development and building construction,” said Los Angeles County Public Works Deputy Director of Development Services Dennis Hunter. “We expect improved customer value and transparency with EnerGov through an enhanced user experience, real-time access to information and an opportunity to integrate GIS into our land use regulation and permitting processes.”

Approximately 90 percent of land development processes occur between the county’s departments of Public Works and Regional Planning. EnerGov will streamline processes between the departments by automating operations such as land-use planning, regulatory permitting, enforcement case management, inspections and citizen requests. Additionally, EnerGov’s mobile applications will provide Los Angeles County staff with enhanced, real-time access to data and GIS spatial analysis while in the field.

“EnerGov’s technical merits attract public sector agencies of all sizes, and clients like Los Angeles County recognize that they are getting a true long-term partner, not just a software vendor,” said Brett Cate, president of Tyler’s Local Government Division. “The Department of Public Works’ mission is to provide infrastructure and services that enrich residents’ daily lives. Tyler similarly values positively impacting our clients’ daily lives by providing software and services that help them succeed. We look forward to continuing our partnership with Los Angeles County to meet its goals for an integrated permitting and land management platform.”

The Department of Public Works is expected to begin implementing EnerGov in November 2015.

Los Angeles County is the most populous county in the U.S. with roughly 10 million residents and more than 88 incorporated cities. The Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles, in 2014 selected Tyler’s Odyssey® court case management software solution to modernize court processes and optimize resources.
