International LiDAR Mapping Forum (ILMF) 2016 Kicks Off Monday February 22

More than 900 professionals will gather in Denver next week for the biggest LiDAR event in North America

February 18, 2016 (Portland, Maine)International LiDAR Mapping Forum (ILMF) kicks off Monday, February 22 at the Hyatt Regency Denver Colorado Convention Center. The conference and exhibition, which will take place February 22-24, will showcase the latest airborne, terrestrial, and underwater LiDAR as well as emerging remote-sensing and data collection tools and technologies.

Conference attendees will learn about the latest advances in technology and hear about industry changes and developments first-hand from industry experts. Chris Fisher, PhD, Archaeologist and Professor of Anthropology at Colorado State University and Dave Gallo, Senior Advisor for Strategic Initiatives, Center for Climate and Life, Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory, Columbia University will deliver the keynote addresses. Dr. Fisher will deliver the keynote Pursuing Ancient Myths and Unveiling Lost Cultures with New Technologies,” where he will discuss his expedition to Mesoamerica, and his team’s discovery of ancient cultures using airborne LiDAR a key technology. Dr. Gallo will deliver the keynote “ Beyond Titanic: The Pursuit of Tactical Oceanography, in which he will discuss his expedition to create the first detailed and comprehensive map of the RMS Titanic using multi-sensor seafloor mapping.

Other sessions will cover topics including:

  • Single photon, FLASH and Geiger-mode LiDAR
  • Linear LiDAR technology
  • Topo-Bathymetry
  • Data fusion & processing technologies
  • Point clouds & automated feature extraction
  • Developments in data classification & GIS modeling
