Version 2.0 of the QuickPlay software defined FPGA development platform greatly simplifies and accelerates FPGA developments targeted at Xilinx Kintex-7 and Kintex UltraScale based boards

SAN JOSE, Calif., March 3, 2016 – PLDA today announced the release of version 2.0 of its QuickPlay® development platform. QuickPlay is a software defined FPGA development environment that enables developers with little to no FPGA expertise to build FPGA designs seamlessly and have working hardware in record time. QuickPlay provides an end-to-end graphical and C++ dataflow entry allowing designers to develop FPGA applications using C/C++ or HDL, and target existing FPGA platforms. With version 2.0, QuickPlay adds support for Xilinx® Kintex®-7 and Kintex Ultrascale™ and integrates two new hardware platforms from COTS hardware vendor ReFLEX CES®: the Xilinx Kintex-7 based XpressK7 and Xilinx Kintex UltraScale based XpressKUS.

QuickPlay differs from other high level design methodologies such as OpenCL by offering an open sandbox where designers create their own I/O infrastructure and therefore are not bound by a CPU-centric co-processing model. This flexibility in data flow modeling enables targeting numerous applications in Networking, Broadcast and Vision, Medical, HPC, Defense and many more.

“In a constant effort to build a strong ecosystem of partners that help drive FPGA adoption to new markets, we are very happy to see our devices being supported in QuickPlay”, said Ramine Roane, Sr. Director of Tools Product Marketing at Xilinx. “Xilinx’s objective is to offer development flows for all potential designers regardless of their FPGA expertise. QuickPlay complements well our current SDx and HLx offering, with a pure C/C++ development flow enabling software developers to reap the benefit of FPGA in their Systems.”

The combination of QuickPlay with the XpressK7 and XpressKUS platforms from ReFLEX CES brings a new level of productivity to developers of Xilinx FPGA based applications, as it eliminates much of the pain and time associated with FPGA design. Engineers benefit from the simplicity and efficiency of QuickPlay for the development of the FPGA application and the versatility and robustness of these two popular Xilinx platforms.

“The release of version 2.0 is an important milestone for QuickPlay as it builds upon the great foundation that we have set with our early customers, and expands the value of QuickPlay to developers looking at using Xilinx devices”, said Stephane Monboisset, Marketing Director for QuickPlay. “The addition of the ReFLEX CES XpressK7 and XpressKUS boards extends the list of boards that QuickPlay customers can choose from and will drive the adoption of QuickPlay even further, whether it is among FPGA designers looking to improve their time to market or software developers looking for an intuitive and efficient way to add FPGA into their systems”.

About QuickPlay

QuickPlay is a PLDA GROUP ( www.pldagroup.com) brand that aims to accelerate the adoption of FPGA-based reconfigurable hardware in IT infrastructures by opening up FPGA design to non-hardware experts. The QuickPlay software IDE enables developers with different engineering backgrounds to model, design, debug, and deploy FPGA hardware as their end product or as a part of their final system, all without FPGA expertise, and without the pain and time traditionally associated with FPGA design. QuickPlay features a pure graphical and C/C++ design methodology that abstracts the hardware design and debug process, streamlines the mapping of the FPGA design on the hardware target, and completely hides the details of hardware implementation, for a user experience that compares with traditional software programming. QuickPlay is the result of years of research in the field of High-Level Design (HLD) and High-Level Synthesis (HLS) combined with PLDA GROUP strong expertise in FPGA hardware and IP design. QuickPlay enables leading technology companies to rip the benefits of FPGA without the pain, in domains such as Cloud computing, HPC, A/V broadcast, data center networking and more.
