Peratech appoints Dr. William Beckenbaugh to Board of Directors

Richmond, Yorkshire, UK - Apr 5, 2016 -- Peratech, a world leader in force sensing technology, has appointed William Beckenbaugh, Ph.D. to the Peratech Board of Directors.  In addition to his duties as a non-executive director, Dr. Beckenbaugh will also serve as a science and technology adviser.

"I have worked with a number of new technology breakthroughs and development teams during my career," said Dr. Beckenbaugh, "but I am especially excited about the huge potential of the QTC materials and software system to provide a fundamentally new approach to many areas of electronic sensing and human-machine interaction."

Prior to joining Peratech, Dr. Beckenbaugh served as CTO of Multek, a division of Flextronics.  He has over 35 years of diverse, executive-level technology, electronics manufacturing, and  R&D leadership experience including C-level and VP positions at Motorola, Sanmina-SCI, HADCO, and Konarka Technologies, and as well as serving on the boards of several university and industry bodies.  Dr. Beckenbaugh holds a BA in Chemistry from MacMurray College in Illinois and a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Rice University in Houston, Texas. He also completed Postdoctoral Research at Eidgennoessische Technische Hochschule, Laboratory for Solid State Physics, in Zurich, Switzerland.

Dr. Beckenbaugh's advisory services will actively enable Peratech's R&D team to leverage his decades of experience in commercialising advanced materials and further develop Quantum Tunnelling Composite (QTC®) technologies.

"Having such a highly-experienced technologist join Peratech is yet another clear validation of QTC® as a commercially viable technology and Peratech as a company capable of delivering it to the mass market," commented Peratech CEO, Jon Stark.  "Bill's experience as an integral part of our team will enable us to further develop QTC® technologies into many more applications.  It is an added bonus few companies our size could ever enjoy."

Quantum Tunnelling Composites® for force touch 3D sensing

QTC® sensors are opening up a new world of possibilities with innovative, pressure-based user experiences.  QTC® materials change from being an almost perfect insulator to becoming increasingly conductive in proportion to the amount of force applied.  The materials are very resilient with predictable deformation and recovery so that changes in resistance due to even the slightest amount of pressure on the QTC material is both predictable and repeatable over more than a million cycles.  New force-sensing formulations from Peratech include a transparent version of QTC.  These force-sensing formulations provide the highest dynamic range of multi-touch pressure-sensing for displays to create more natural, smarter, safer interactions between a product and user.

Peratech

Peratech Holdco Ltd. is a privately held company based in Richmond, North Yorkshire.  It is currently working with a number of key technology clients to provide them with force sensing solutions. The company is an excellent example of British innovation bringing in global revenue.  QTC® force sensing technology is protected by numerous worldwide patents and has a wide range of applications. From robotics to automotive and from touch screens to consumer electrical products, the product has been integrated into over a million products with companies around the world.
