Ideate, Inc. Leads Discussion on Using BIM to Affect Business Decisions

San Francisco, CA, May 02, 2016Ideate, Inc., an Autodesk Platinum Value Added Reseller, announced today that it is the Platinum Sponsor of the inaugural Data Day, a one-day workshop within the Revit Technology Conference North America (RTCNA), on July 13, 2016. This workshop will launch a discussion on what data means to the Architecture, Engineering, Construction, and Owner (AECO) community.

“AECO professionals use the tremendous amount of data in building information models (BIM) to improve the way they design, build, and operate buildings,” said David Haynes, director of consulting, Ideate, Inc. and RTC Data Day committee member. “Now it’s time to think about how else they can drive data to make decisions.” He continued, “RTC, a leading conference that attracts hundreds of professionals from across the AECO industry, is the ideal place to start this discussion.”

Data Day is designed for principals, owners, visionaries, and others who want to lead the way into the new data world and as a result, each will bring unique experiences and insights to help determine the next steps for the AECO industry. Attendees will gain valuable knowledge from dynamic presentations and interactive, round-table discussions, where they will share company perspectives, concerns, and visions regarding data. Questions that will be discussed include:

• What is data to the AECO industry, and what related challenges does the industry face?
• What data matters most to AECO businesses?
• What can be done to better seize the value of the data?
• How can a graphic ecosystem of data management tools be developed?
• How can data be leveraged at each stage of a built project lifecycle for collective stakeholder benefit?
• What skills are required to solve industry problems?
• What methods have other industries employed to solve similar issues?

“Ideate has always been at the forefront of BIM,” said Bob Palioca, president, Ideate Inc. “Ten years ago, we recognized the value of BIM and saw that Autodesk Revit was a powerful tool for managing data. We built our business around developing thought leadership pieces, learning sessions, and user groups to help the AECO community understand building information modeling and get the most out of their Revit software.” He continued, “Today, the industry is at another turning point, and I’m excited Ideate will once again be leading discussions that will set the direction for the next wave of innovation.”
