Polygonica expands platform support to Linux and Mac

Sheffield - May 4, 2016 - MachineWorks Ltd, leading provider of CNC simulation and verification software and polygonal mesh processing software, are pleased to announce that future versions of Polygonica will include support for Linux and Macintosh operating systems

Polygonica is currently available for Microsoft Windows and a range of Visual Studio Compilers. From Polygonica 1.3, support will be extended to Linux and Apple Mac operating systems. The full range of Polygonica functionality, including automatic mesh healing, Boolean operations, mesh offsetting, mesh simplification, mesh analysis and rendering, will be available across all platforms.

“We are seeing more demand from our customers for additional platforms as new opportunities and technologies gain traction” said Dr David Knight, Polygonica Sales Manager. “In particular, Polygonica is well suited to cloud based mesh processing tasks for 3D printing and CAE, and many cloud platforms are based on Linux. The new revolution of desktop 3D printing has driven demand for Mac platforms as well, as manufacturers with diverse product ranges are looking to provide consistent and functional software tools for their users.”

“Linux and OSX support is critical because we’re seeing more partners developing their engineering applications for platforms beyond Windows. This industry continues to move workflows to the cloud and having Linux support is a must for innovation.” Gavin Bridgeman, VP of Products, Tech Soft 3D

Polygonica for Linux and Mac is currently available in beta form for selected customers and partners, and general availability will commence in Q2 2016.
