LMN Architects receive 2016 Architecture Firm Award at National AIA Convention

Seattle firm noted for important civic projects receives highest honor

SEATTLE, June 3, 2016 — (PRNewswire) — LMN Architects, a design practice known for creating impactful community-focused projects of all scales, received the 2016 Architecture Firm Award at the American Institute of Architects (AIA) National Convention, recently held in Philadelphia. This annual award, the highest honor the AIA bestows on an architecture firm, recognizes design innovation within a practice that has consistently produced distinguished architecture for at least 10 years.

2015 AIA President Elizabeth Chu Richter, FAIA, said of the firm, "LMN Architects exemplify the best in architecture firm culture. Not only is their work proof of this, but the amazing talent they are cultivating will have a reverberating impact on the profession for years to come." In remarks at the award ceremony, Wendy Pautz, AIA, and George Shaw, FAIA—both partners at LMN—acknowledged the many individuals who have contributed to the firm's accomplishments—clients, collaborators, craftspeople, their families, the communities in which they work, and the firm's entire staff—and quoted fellow partner Mark Reddington, FAIA, by saying, "You all kick ass, Big Time."

Following the ceremony, the firm celebrated with a party at Lenfest Plaza to thank those who made the award possible. The celebration featured an ephemeral, interactive light installation suspended above the plaza by sixty, three-foot-diameter balloons, which served as an engaging backdrop and temporary light canopy. The installation, dubbed ION, was designed, fabricated, and installed by members of the firm.
