GigaSpaces Highlights Streaming of Geospatial Data in Spark At Strata + Hadoop World

Company Showcases Use Cases for InsightEdge, Which Enables Closed-Loop Analytics and Data-Driven Applications in Spark

NEW YORK — (BUSINESS WIRE) — September 28, 2016 — GigaSpaces, a provider of in-memory computing (IMC) technologies, is unveiling a variety of use cases for its InsightEdge platform, an open source in-memory computing (IMC) data grid that enables the use of hybrid transactional/analytics workloads and fast data in Apache Spark. In addition, the ability to incorporate geospatial analysis natively in Apache Spark is chief among the product breakthroughs that will be demonstrated at the Strata + Hadoop conference in New York.

One example is a European ride-sharing service case study for Cabonline, which uses InsightEdge to perform the analysis that connects drivers and passengers for more than 20 million trips annually. It powers apps and web solutions for taxi and ridesharing companies across the Nordics like Taxi Kurir, Taxi 020, Taxi Norway, TOPCAB, Taxi Skane and Sweden Taxi, processing transaction data to provide a seamless user experience.

“Sensors and mobile devices offer a treasure trove of geospatial information, but traditional big data processing can add latency and mar the customer experiences,” said Ali Hodroj, VP of Products and Strategy for GigaSpaces. “Using InsightEdge, companies can glean actionable insights in real time with data from these devices both at the core and the edge.”

InsightEdge, which launched earlier this year, is built using the open core of XAP, an industry workhorse IMC platform that’s been used by hundreds of Tier-1 and Fortune 500 organizations worldwide.
