Arcam announces CoCr process and shows latest EBM technology and metal powders for AM at Formnext 2016

Arcam AB, listed on NASDAQ Stockholm, and a leading supplier of Additive Manufacturing (“AM”) equipment, announced today news shown at the Formnext show in Frankfurt on November 15-18. At the show Arcam participates with AM systems through Arcam EBM and with AM powders through AP&C.

Arcam CoCr process for Arcam Q10plus

CoCr is, together with titanium, the prime material for the orthopedic industry and it is also a commonly used material in the aerospace industry. The availability of CoCr on the state of the art Arcam Q10plus system allows customers in the orthopedic market to take full advantage of the production capabilities of Arcam’s EBM technology. The CoCr process provides parts with high resolution, production level productivity and impeccable material properties. The process is supported by an animal study by Gothenburg University, showing bone interaction with CoCr.

Parts made in the new process are on display in the Arcam EBM stand in Hall 3/F20.

Arcam Q10plus for Orthopedic Manufacturing

For the first time on Formnext Arcam will have an EBM system on the show floor.

The newly released Arcam Q10plus is the latest iteration of Arcam’s EBM technology, providing important features facilitating efficient manufacturing;

-Arcam xQam™ – an innovative X-ray based detection system for automatic calibration and improved beam control.

-EBM Control 5.0 – an all new software platform adding functionality for more efficient and accurate beam control as well as new melt strategies, improving build speed and precision.

-MultiBeam – Arcam’s proprietary technology for parallel melting.

AP&C shows high quality titanium powders

Following a surge in demand for AP&C’s high quality titanium powders for Additive Manufacturing AP&C continues to add significant capacity by building a new powder manufacturing plant.

The new facility will provide manufacturing redundancy, short term capacity increase and long term expansion capability. AP&C’s Plasma technology converts efficiently raw material to powder with excellent key properties such as flowability, density, chemistry and traceability. With the present build-out AP&C will reach a capacity of at least 750 tons per year.

AP&C is in Hall 3/G08.

“It is exciting to be at Formnext with our teams from the EBM business and the AP&C powder business exhibiting in concert. Arcam is determined to serve the industry through cost efficient solutions thus converting traditional manufacturing into Additive Manufacturing”, says Magnus René, CEO of Arcam.
