Elysium Certified Vendor for Daimler AG—DirectTranslator Certified for Bi-directional JT Translations

HAMAMATSU, Japan—Dec. 16, 2016—Elysium, a leading provider of CAD data translations and interoperability solutions, is proud to announce that Elysium’s DirectTranslator™ has been certified as an approved tool for JT bi-directional translations by Daimler AG. The official certification was announced Nov. 3, 2016 as part of Elysium’s accomplishment of successful meeting all of Daimler’s JT qualifications.

In 2014, Elysium was approved as the JT Data-Translation Provider to Daimler Supply Chain and has proven time and again to meet the challenges and requirements of Daimler. The Daimler requirements for JT encompass downstream use cases that include digital mock-up, publishing, assembly configuration confirmation, interference checking, design-in-context, space utilization, CAE and MFG simulation, and other functions.

Elysium has continued to grow its partnership with Daimler and has become the certified vendor for JT translations. JT has become the leading standard format for 3D CAD data sharing and has become the approved delivery format for Daimler and many other automotive OEM and suppliers.

In addition to becoming the certified vendor for JT translations for Daimler, Elysium was also a crucial part and an official partner in Daimler’s PLM2015 with CADfeature™. DirectTranslator™

Elysium's DirectTranslator™ provides a seamless connection between different CAD systems. The official partnerships with CAD vendors, along with Elysium’s industry leading Advanced Data Exchange Kernel provides for unmatchable healing capability to deliver the highest 3D product data quality. It greatly exceeds translation achieved by data exchanges via neutral formats, or any other translation tools in both quality and performance.

DirectTranslator™ operation is a simple pushbutton, native CAD-to-CAD translation and exchange of parts and assemblies. The largest advantage of Elysium's DirectTranslator is the best-in-industry translation success rate between multiple CAD formats. Elysium has developed interoperability solutions under the official partnerships with all the major CAD vendors, and is well acquainted with the characteristics of each CAD system. Elysium DirectTranslator™ optimizes 3D CAD data for the target CAD system using its deep knowledge of CAD systems and sophisticated geometry handling technology. Its support of non-geometry elements, such as attributes and PMI (Product Manufacturing Information), as well as geometric information is what makes DirectTranslator™ stand out from all data exchange via other neutral formats.

CAD Data Validation

In addition to translation, Elysium also offers solutions to validate the CAD data to Daimler. Elysium validation detects and categorizes the inconsistencies of two CAD data files. The latest version of Elysium CAD Validation supports the validation requirements at Daimler to assure for absolute 3D model usage for a majority of horizontal and downstream processes. Validation of 3D geometry and PMI can take an engineer months to compare using the human eye. Elysium CAD validation modules can be easily integrated into PLM systems or Web application, and then automatically deliver 3D reports in HTML or 3D PDF directly from them. Reports include 3D visualization of the model, filters for analyzing specific PMI types, model views, pass/fail criteria, and much more. One major use case is to detect regression in CAD version-up. When a company upgrades a CAD system, they compare the CAD data from an older version against the data in the newer version to ensure that there occur no unwanted changes of the data in the latest release. Another major use case is to validate engineering modifications of CAD data against reference data sets, e.g., through engineering change orders Elysium Validation capability also ensures the JT data validity for the digital factory. Elysium Validation compares original CAD data and exported JT data for a specific manufacturing process and highlights differences or any inconsistencies.
