Océ VarioPrint 6000 TITAN Series Improves Speed, Design and Media Flexibility
MELVILLE, N.Y., Aug. 29, 2017 — (PRNewswire) — Addressing the market demands for increased productivity and extended media capabilities, Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, unveils the Océ VarioPrint 6000 TITAN Series of sheetfed monochrome production presses at PRINT 17. Set to be available in the Americas in 2018, the TITAN Series builds off the success of the Océ VarioPrint 6000 Series featuring a range of technology innovations designed to help further enhance productivity, quality and media versatility, while maintaining best-in-class environmental performance.1The technology has been developed to help print service providers who operate in the commercial, publishing and transactional segments to produce high-quality black and white prints at increased speeds while using a wider selection of media weights and formats.
Built on a Legend
The TITAN Series presses build on the well-established Océ VarioPrint 6000 platform, which set a new bar for monochrome digital production when it was first launched a decade ago. Its unique Gemini Instant Duplex Technology is still unmatched to this day.
"Due to strict service level agreements with our customers, machine reliability is extremely critical to our success, and therefore the most important component of our new equipment analysis. Having run the VarioPrint 6000 presses for over five years, we can confidently say they are the most reliable machines in our operation," said Matt Novak, president BFC, a print and fulfillment company focusing on the financial services and insurance industries. "For output volume per hour and uptime percentage, the VarioPrint 6000 presses are hands down the winners in our shop."
Supporting volumes of up to 10 million Letter size impressions per month, the new presses are ideally suited to produce quality commercial print materials, books and transactional documents making them a smart choice for commercial printers and large in-plants. Designed to meet the needs of various markets, the Océ VarioPrint 6000 TITAN Series will be available in three versions - Standard/TP(Transactional Print)/MICR – with a range of finishing options that include booklet-making, perfect binding, tape binding, die punching and trimming. The Series also offers an open Document Finishing Device (DFD) Interface for further connectivity to compatible third party finishers on demand.
Industrial Sturdiness and Speed
The redesigned Océ VarioPrint 6000 TITAN Series is built with an ultra-robust steel body to support customers' industrial production requirements, facilitate maintenance and help maximize press uptime.
Reaching maximum productivity and accommodating fast turn-around times is top of mind to customers. The Océ VarioPrint 6000 TITAN Series offers maximum running speed of 320 Letter images per minute (ipm) in perfecting mode, which translates to a potential of more than 30,000 additional Letter prints in one week in a one-shift operation2. Four new speed models will be available to meet different production requirements (VarioPrint 6180, 6220, 6270 and 6330)3. Customers using lower speed models will have the option to purchase temporary licenses for increased speed to handle short-term or seasonal production peaks.
Productivity Intelligence Built-in
Increased productivity is also supported by extended functionality in the TITAN Series' new, Windows® 10-based PRISMAsync Print Server v7, which allows for advanced job scheduling for up to eight hours to enable unattended printing. Further tools such as PRISMAsync Remote Manager and Remote Control App for smart devices4 can help boost productivity by enabling remote management and monitoring of multiple engines. User authentication, configurable UI and an e-Shredding option are just some of the security features on this device.
Perfecting Performance for Light Weight Media
The TITAN Series presses are optimized for the broadest range of media in the VarioPrint 6000 series' history, designed to help print service providers extend their applications range and access new commercial opportunities. The new TITAN Light Weight Media (LWM) Option with LWM Air Guide Technology will enable printing on substrates as light as 30 pound Text (45 gsm). This can open up new product avenues, and therefore revenue opportunities for customers, particularly in applications such as legal documentation, specialist publishing and multi-language product and package inserts.
The new light weight media capability is supported by the proven Océ Gemini Instant Duplex Technology, which uses twin print heads to print simultaneously on both sides of the media without the need to stop and turn the sheet. The Océ Copy Press Technology, which presses toner into the substrate at a low fusing temperature, further reduces the physical stresses on the substrate, while also helping to maintain a flat surface for outstanding print and finishing quality and delivering a matte, offset-like image.
Choices from Input to Output
The VarioPrint 6000 TITAN Series will support plain, coated, textured and other specialty media such as NCR paper. The VarioPrint 6000 family presses are the only digital presses in their class able to print double-sided tabs for products such as manuals and guides.
New Paper Input Module (PIM) options for the VarioPrint 6000 TITAN Series give customers choices and configuration flexibility. The Standard PIM is for media up to 12.6″ x 19.2″, while the new Flex XL PIM is designed for media up to 13.8″ x 19.7″, making it ideal for multi-up digital on-demand book production. Depending on their work mix, customers are able to mix and match up to three PIMs in one configuration.
"Monochrome output remains the largest single volume band in digital printing, and Canon is committed to continuous innovation in this technology space to anticipate our customers' evolving needs," said Toyotsugu Kuwamura, executive vice president and general manager, Business Imaging Solutions Group, Canon U.S.A., Inc. "Since its introduction in 2006, more than 200 Billion images have been produced worldwide on VarioPrint 6000 presses, redefining users' expectation of a monochrome press. The new TITAN is designed to continue this legacy to help users meet ever-tightening deadlines and the need for media versatility to help sharpen their competitive edge in a demanding market."
The established Océ Gemini Instant Duplex technology delivers near-perfect, front-to-back registration with a tolerance of +/- 0.3 mm for exceptional print quality. Other existing features of the original VarioPrint 6000 Series also contribute to high output quality, for example ScreenPoint technology, which detects and optimizes the image type (text, line or photo) for each individual page, and the intelligent SuperCell half-toning algorithm for excellent image sharpness and smooth gradations.
The new Océ VarioPrint 6000 TITAN Series presses generate virtually no ozone emissions or waste toner, and their energy consumption is calculated to be 30 percent less than other machines in their category, helping customers to minimize running costs while supporting a healthy operator environment.
The Océ VarioPrint 6000 TITAN Series presses are scheduled to be available in the Americas in 2018.5
The new Océ VarioPrint 6330 TITAN will be on display at PRINT 17 at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois from Sunday, September 10th through Thursday, September 14th, Canon booth 1213.
