Thinkbox Announces Security Control Report for Deadline on Amazon Web Services

Best Practices Drafted by Third-Party Ensure Studio Security Compliance for Digital Content Creators

Winnipeg, Canada - November 27, 2017 - Thinkbox, an Amazon company, today announced that Independent Security Evaluators (ISE) has completed a third-party security report, enabling customers to securely deploy render workflows for high-profile VFX and Animation projects on the AWS cloud. The report establishes best practices and security controls for adhering to the guidelines of most major studios, including Marvel and Disney Studios. The comprehensive report is available upon request; it can be downloaded via AWS Artifacts under the report name "Studio Security Controls for VFX/Rendering."

"Security is our highest priority," said Chris Bond, Founder of Thinkbox Software and Director of Product Management, Amazon EC2 at AWS. "Based off this report, customers can be assured that rendering on AWS meets any major Studio's stringent requirements. We continually ensure that our software and cloud infrastructure meets the toughest industry security standards. Thinkbox customers inherit all the architecture and operational processes built to satisfy the requirements of the most security-sensitive customers on AWS. And we are excited to provide a third-party approved best practices document so that our customers can configure an environment that enables them to securely work on any major studio project on AWS."

"When we were evaluating cloud providers, having a high level of security certification was critical. We've had great success with AWS and are excited to continue using it for even our most sensitive clients," said Jason Fotter, FuseFX Co-founder and CTO.

The AWS security controls report was developed by ISE after evaluation of AWS services, including Amazon EC2, EC2 Spot, EC2 On-Demand, AWS Direct Connect, AWS Batch, Thinkbox Deadline, compute storage and several other AWS platform utility services such as VPC, IAM, etc. All publicly available documentation and existing burst rendering setups were reviewed as part of the process, and customers using the AWS platform for feature film production were consulted.
