UC Davis Students Design Radar Systems Using NI AWR Software

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. – Jan. 29, 2018  AWR/NI announcement:

The University of California (UC) at Davis offers a senior project course within the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department that has students designing and building radar systems. To add a fun and competitive element to the class, the students participate in a competition at the end of the course in which scores are tallied on the accuracy, power and weight of their final radar devices. In the most recent 2017 competition, the NI AWR software team awarded a $100 gift card and a complimentary one-year full license of NI AWR Design Environment software to the winning team of Michelle Chang, Michael Meegan, Gene Uehara and Vladislav Vakulchik.

“The ability of my students to successfully design and implement sophisticated radar systems that can perform range, Doppler, and specific absorption rates (SAR) measurements is greatly enhanced by the use of NI AWR software,” said Assistant Professor Xiaoguang “Leo” Liu. “My classroom time is significantly enhanced because the students spend more effort on learning RF/ microwave concepts and skills and less on learning the software.”
