Matterport Offers Early Access for Select Developers for New SDK, Enabling Developers to Build on Its Immersive 3D Platform

Release of SDK Expected to Ignite Development of New Applications Across Industries

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Jan. 31, 2018 — (PRNewswire) —  Matterport, an immersive 3D media technology company, today announced that it is offering early access for select developers for its new 3D Showcase SDK, which allows developers to create new applications using Matterport's software. This release enables developers across multiple industries to customize the user experience, giving them the opportunity to create programs that have never been built previously using immersive 3D technology.

"Developers have been eager to build on top of our platform for years, so we are excited to enable them to create new and exciting solutions for their respective industries," said Damien Leostic, VP of Product at Matterport. "What sets Matterport apart is that we generate fully immersive True3DTM walkthroughs versus others who create 360 panoramic tours which sometimes, mistakenly, get referred to as 3D. True3DTM is distinguished by the 3D depth data that creates truly immersive experiences and enables developers countless possibilities to build on top of this experience."

This 3D Showcase SDK is free for select developers to create publicly available websites and apps. Matterport plans to roll out additional features for the platform in the future in an effort to expand on 3D Showcase SDK capabilities, and may charge for later versions of the SDK.

The SDK will enable developers to build apps for various industries, including real estate, travel and hospitality, insurance, retail, architecture, engineering and construction. Multivista, a leader in visual construction documentation, was one of the early testers of the SDK and the first company to develop a custom feature on top of Matterport's 3D application framework. Their service, Site-Walk 360°, provides seamless interaction between Multivista's functions and Matterport 3D Spaces. Matterport's 3D models can now be embedded into the Multivista platform, allowing Multivista customers to virtually walk through construction sites from anywhere in the world, revolutionizing the way industry professionals collaborate around construction projects. "Using Matterport's SDK has enabled us to expand our functionality and support specific information workflows required by the AEC industry," said Graham Twigg, Chief Technology Officer of Multivista. "The Matterport SDK has allowed us to improve our Site-Walk 360° service, which delivers an immersive virtual walkthrough tied to a state-of-the-art interactive floorplan."
