Carpenter Technology Achieves AS9100 Rev D Certification for Aerospace AM Parts Manufacturing; Increases Capabilities

PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 24, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Carpenter Technology Corporation, a leading producer of premium specialty alloy-based solutions for the aerospace industry and other key markets, today announced that its additive manufacturing (AM) production facility in Camarillo, CA (CalRAM LLC) has recently achieved AS9100 Rev D Certification for its Quality Management System. CalRAM is a leader in powder-bed fusion additive technologies used to manufacture parts for the aerospace, defense, power generation, and oil and gas industries.

CalRAM previously achieved National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program (NADCAP) certification to produce aerospace parts using electron beam and laser powder-bed fusion technologies. The combination of AS9100 Rev D and NADCAP quality certifications illustrates the company’s commitment to achieving the highest quality standards and continues to differentiate Carpenter’s additive manufacturing capabilities.

Carpenter also recently installed a new Arcam EBM Q20plus AM printer at the Camarillo site to complement its existing portfolio of electron beam and laser capabilities. Specifically designed for the efficient production of aerospace components, the high-power electron beam technology features advanced controls and an increased build envelope. With the deployment of this new printer, Carpenter is now able to deliver larger AM component solutions to its targeted markets and customers.
