EUROPEAN DRONE SUMMIT 2018 – Anil V. Nanduri from the Intel Drone Group will be a keynote speaker. An international panel of experts from INTEL will attend the workshops and presentations on the new general aviation regulation

Frankfurt am Main/Karlsruhe, August 29, 2018 --  The EUROPEAN DRONE SUMMIT (EDS2018) is the first European conference at which operators, manufacturers and public authority representatives will discuss the potential modes of operation and applications that are opening up for professional drone service providers and companies in light of the unmanned aircraft industry’s new European general aviation regulation. Specialists from across Europe will share their insights with delegates at the first EUROPEAN DRONE SUMMIT on 15 October 2018 in Frankfurt am Main. The organiser of EDS2018, UAV DACH e.V., has brought together key representatives from the field of unmanned aircraft.

“We are extremely proud that a company like Intel has clearly committed itself to the role of gold sponsor and supported the event from the outset. Not to mention that representatives from the European Commission will be answering questions for us on the new EU legislation,” says Michael Wieland from UAV DACH e.V., the driving force behind the EDS. Intel is heavily involved in the EDS on many levels and will be contributing to the discussions on harmonising regulations worldwide, digitalisation and automation with an international panel of experts. “We are delighted that high-ranking experts from different companies, some of whom are even competitors, have accepted our invitation to come on board. Global players’ first-hand experience and solutions offer added value to everyone taking part,” Wieland continues.

Intel is keen to win over delegates with its pioneering innovations and make a lasting impact on the framework conditions for efficient industrial use of drones. Sophisticated fleet management at the world-record-holding drone light show will redefine the limits of what’s possible. Intel’s unmanned aerial systems combine high performance with security, while its flight planning software and the cloud-based data analysis tool Intel® Insight Platform add an extra dimension to quality and efficiency – from planning through to data evaluation.

Anil V. Nanduri, Vice President and General Manager of the Drone Group at Intel Corporation, will be presenting a keynote speech at the European Drone Summit. As a committee member of the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for the regulation of unmanned aviation systems and a member of the NASA Advisory Council Aeronautics Committee, Nanduri possesses extraordinary insight and expertise and is one of the most influential figures in the sector.

Nanduri heads the Intel Drone Group, steering strategic and operative decisions with a focus on end-to-end solutions for commercial applications. The company’s flight planning software Intel® Mission Control and its cloud solution significantly speed up the process involved between capturing accurate data and then using it to make reasoned decisions. The Intel® Sirius™ Pro and Intel® Falcon™ 8+ systems offer additional high-quality software and hardware solutions, while Intel® RealSense™ modules and Intel® Movidius™ pave the way for artificial intelligence and obstacle-avoidance systems on board drones. Indoor tracking and control technology, flight attitude control technology – such as that used by Volocopter – and open source systems for researchers and developers provide the perfect finishing touch to Intel’s portfolio for the unmanned aircraft sector.

Over the course of numerous operations, including inspections of the Wall of China, Intel has earned itself a name in the sector as a innovative drone developer and pioneer.

About the EUROPEAN DRONE SUMMIT

As the first platform for the entire drone sector, the EUROPEAN DRONE SUMMIT gives users, legislators and representatives of various technologies the opportunity to meet and talk about relevant issues and ideas for the future. Political experts, industry specialists and user groups gather to discuss solutions for safe commercial unmanned aircraft systems in Europe. The goal of the EUROPEAN DRONE SUMMIT is to channel ideas and decisions relating to unmanned aircraft systems in such a way as to highlight how UAV technology can be used now and in the future by representatives of various sectors. The focus is on economic benefits and safety.

The EUROPEAN DRONE SUMMIT is taking place on 15 October 2018 in Frankfurt am Main. The INTERAERIAL SOLUTIONS part of INTERGEO is the largest commercial drones trade fair in Europe and is being held from 16 – 18 October, also in Frankfurt.
