Groundbreaking advancements in technology are propelling manufacturing into a new age of automation. The Internet of Things, robotics, machine learning and artificial intelligence are poised to disrupt the industry in the years to come, and the continued evolution of these technologies will shape manufacturing's long-term future.

The business and customer demands have already compelled many clients like Kyocera to move their computing and storage systems to a cloud model for greater agility, higher performance and lower costs. But without comprehensive cloud management, enterprises are susceptible to security threats, data loss and costly downtime. Whether clients have a multi-tenant or hybrid cloud environment, IBM's services for managed applications possesses extensive cloud knowledge to help support their environment and fill in the management gaps.

"We chose IBM over bids by many of their competitors because of their proven track record with delivering a secure and open cloud," said Mano Misra, vice president of Managed Information Systems, Kyocera. "Not only are we entrusting IBM Cloud with our key operations applications like Oracle, we are also committed to migrating many of our other important business applications running under VMWare to the IBM Cloud."

As part of the five-year agreement, IBM created a new flexible, IBM Services Management Application –offering with Kyocera's existing Oracle environment. Now, IBM Services will facilitate daily IT management for Kyocera's cloud-based services and technical support to help automate and enhance their business operations and unburden their infrastructure staff, thereby allowing them to focus on more value-added application modernization and innovation.

"In today's demanding business environment, organizations like Kyocera need a robust, high availability enterprise resource planning backbone and commerce platform with zero disruptions," said Mark Slaga, general manager of IBM Services for Application Management. "We are pleased to be able to deliver a highly-differentiated value proposition by bringing together our best technologies and subject matter specialists to provide solutions for them in this new phase of their digital transformation."

IBM Services for Application Management is designed to effectively monitor and maintain the client's cloud environment and provide solutions for:

  • Solving Vendor Service Issues: Managing third-party vendors and working with them to quickly deliver solutions for service issues.
  • Providing Quick Solutions: Delivering enterprise-level monitoring to detect and fix any present network issue.
  • Flexibility: Providing a flexible cost model as well as helping clients transition into the cloud strategy that fits them best by choosing the suitable solutions as they grow and technologies evolve.
