Lead’Air Inc has successfully introduced several cutting-edge new TRACK’AIR ™ 2019 products during INTERGEO 2018 in Frankfurt Germany.

November 12, 2018 -- Lead’Air, Inc located in Kissimmee, Florida, USA is pleased to report that our 2019 products were met with great interest by the many international attendees visiting the INTERGEO this year. The versatility of our new imaging and LiDAR systems is what particularly attracted the aerial survey professionals. As one visitor put it “we do not need more single-purpose aerial survey equipment; new aerial sensors should be capable of handling more than one type of job.” This correctly describes the new MIDAS oblique camera systems which can be configured at will to generate 5 cm (2 inches) GSD from 1,000 to 10,000 feet AGL, can be moved from a fixed-wing aircraft to a helicopter and back in a couple of hours, and can be enhanced with a powerful state of the art LiDAR, when required.

The 2019 MIDAS will be delivered with 4, 8, or up to 16 oblique cameras with an optional Riegl LiDAR which can be easily installed or removed depending on the project. It has an option of one or two vertical cameras (RGB or NIR+RGB). Several camera configurations are available; survey adapted SLR (Nikon or Canon) and Phase One. However, the Phase One iXM version undoubtedly will be our 2019 flagship. The operations of oblique cameras will be transformed with the release of the MIDAS iXM version. Capable of flying three times faster and three times lower than our previous systems, the iXMIDAS will significantly increase the scope of the traditional MIDAS systems. It will allow the collection of large-scale imagery down to 1 cm GSD and collection speed in excess of 200, even 300 knots (depending on the GSD). Fitted with the latest smart TRACK'AIR Flight Management System, the MIDAS 2019 will not require an operator on board the aircraft.

Several specialized versions of the MIDAS will also become available;
1) The MIDAR, a MIDAS vertical/oblique camera system with a Riegl LiDAR. The LiDAR module is only installed when necessary and can be easily transferred by the user to other aircraft to capture separate projects. Our customers tell us they do not need to refly the LiDAR as often as the imagery; the LiDAR unit can be shared between several MIDAR units or used on its own.
2) The MIDARoad, a MIDAR specifically designed for high speed/ high-resolution 1cm GSD road inventory from fixed-wing aircraft at 120 knots.
3) The MIDASMetro, a 17 camera MIDAS specially designed for high-resolution and highly detailed 1 inch GSD 3D city mapping.

Also, the Lead’Air DSS (LADSS), a turnkey replacement for the recently discontinued Applanix DSS mapping camera, will be introduced at the ILMF in January 2019. The LADSS will include the all-new state of the art 150-megapixel Phase One iXM-RS150F, an extreme stabilization mount (+/- 30 degrees drift, +/- 60 degrees pitch and roll compensation), and Applanix real-time RapidOrtho™ processing, so that accurate orthophoto maps are ready to deliver upon landing. The LADSS can be used as a nadir mapping camera or in up to 45 degrees oblique mode with 360-degree targeting ability.

Last but not least, in 2019 Lead’Air will launch a survey twin based on the Piper Seneca 5 modified with Lead’Air's own FAA-approved 64 cm (25-inch) camera hole STC. Piper still produces the Seneca V, so they can be found in pristine conditions (as opposed to the average 1970s survey aircraft which spend more time grounded than in the air…). This outstanding airplane will offer 4.5+ hour’s endurance at 175 knots with a crew of two and a 250-pound survey camera on board while burning only 26 Gallons AVGAS per hour.
