Geomni Makes Pre- and Post-California Wildfire Imagery Available

November 20, 2018 -- Multiple wildfires have swept through California at unprecedented rates, decimating over 240,000 acres and tens of thousands of residential and commercial structures.

CAL FIRE’s latest incident update states that the Camp Fire in northern California, which continues to spread throughout Butte County, will not be contained until November 30th.

Thankfully, the Woolsey fire in Los Angeles and Ventura counties has reached over 95% containment. CAL FIRE estimates full containment by November 22nd. The smaller Hill fire that broke out around the same time has already been contained.

Geomni, a leader in aerial imagery and geospatial data, has already begun to help with the daunting task of documenting the damage that has occurred and helping to support property restoration efforts. Shortly after the fires started, Geomni mobilized its private fleet of aircraft stationed at locations strategically placed throughout the U.S., which allows for faster preparedness and deployment for imagery capture.

Imagery capture teams were in the air just a few short days after the fires started. Geomni has been working around the clock to capture and process the high-resolution imagery and make it available online in the GeomniÔ Web Viewer.

To date, imagery for the entire area of the Woolsey fire has been captured and published by Geomni. Verisk and Geomni customers can immediately access the pre- and post-wildfire imagery via the Web Viewer. Additionally, post-fire imagery will be available for adjusters and estimators through Geomni data packages.

Flight missions will continue to capture fires still burning in other parts of the state, including the Camp Fire.
