OneSpin’s Unique Hardware Metric Calculation App Boosts Automation of Failure Modes, Effects and Diagnostics Analysis (FMEDA) for Complex Automotive SoCs

MUNICH, Germany and SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 25, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- OneSpin® Solutions, provider of innovative verification solutions for highly reliable, digital integrated circuits (ICs), today expanded its applications suite with an App to calculate key hardware metrics to comply with functional safety standards, leveraging automatically extracted design information.

The Hardware Metric Calculation (HMC) App is used by engineering groups designing automotive systems on chip (SoCs), including those providing autonomous capabilities, that must meet the highest functional safety requirements defined by the ISO 26262 standard. The App is a key ingredient for failure modes, effects and diagnostic analysis (FMEDA), a systematic approach to obtain subsystem- and product-level failure modes, rates and diagnostic coverage.

“Self-driving vehicles and other safety-critical applications must meet ISO 26262 requirements,” remarks Jörg Grosse, product manager for functional safety at OneSpin. “Our HMC App removes the need for outmoded spreadsheets and tedious manual design data mining to compute hardware metrics required by the standard. We provide automotive SoC developers an automated solution enabling early exploration with a seamless path to replace estimated values with accurate values as soon as they are available.”

OneSpin’s HMC App calculates the key safety metrics set by the ISO 26262, including single-point fault metric (SPFM) to reflect the robustness of the SoC with respect to safety goal violation by individual faults. Also covered is latent fault metric (LFM) to reflect the robustness of the SoC with respect to safety goal violation by multiple-point faults such as faults in safety mechanisms. In addition, the App calculates probabilistic metric of random hardware failures (PMHF) to measure the residual risk of the safety architecture.

The App can be driven simultaneously by multiple users, and can be integrated with OneSpin’s fault analysis Apps, third-party fault simulators, and higher-level safety-analysis tools.

This week, OneSpin will showcase the HMC App in booth #301 during DVCon U.S. at the DoubleTree Hotel in San Jose, Calif., and at embedded world Conference in Nuremberg, Germany, in the eVision System's booth (Hall 4, Booth 4-560).

OneSpin will also feature the HMC App in booth #610 at the Government Microcircuit Applications & Critical Technology Conference (GOMAC) March 25-28, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
