S-100 Data Model brings new versatility to chart production in CARIS HPD 4.0

Fredericton, NB, Canada — July 9, 2019 â” Teledyne CARIS, a Teledyne Technologies company [NYSE: TDY], is pleased to announce the release of its Hydrographic Production Database™ (HPD) 4.0. This new version of HPD is designed to support Hydrographic Offices around the world as they embrace the new S-100 Universal Hydrographic Data Model and explore its many possibilities. Users of HPD 4.0 will be able to augment their existing production environment to support both the S-101 and S-57 Electronic Navigational Chart (ENC) production from the same source database. Rich, customizable mappings allow for a full transition of data to the new data model to achieve ultimate versatility without redundancy.

“HPD 4.0 delivers instant and long term benefits,” says Peter Schwarzberg, Director, Teledyne CARIS EMEA. “This new version is taking HPD to the next level of possibilities and is delivering a holistic solution for today and for the future. With the use of new dynamic automation tools and workflows for increasing efficiency, HPD 4.0 advances existing capabilities of S-57, paper charts and publications, as well as new S-100 products and services.”

Also featured in version 4.0 is the ability to connect to the industry leading bathymetry compilation toolkit, CARIS Bathy DataBASE™ (BDB). A new add-on module allows users the ability to access additional bathymetry-related tools directly from within HPD Editors to generate and process smooth safe-side contours, perform cartographic sounding selections, and more. As well, new functionality allows users the ability to manage temporary features and preliminary Notices to Mariner-type changes in ENC chart production.
