Kaiserslautern, November 28 , 2019 - Creonic GmbH, a leading IP core provider in the communications market, announced today that it will participate in the VERTIGO research project funded by the European Commission under the Horizon 2020 program.
VERTIGO aims to develop and demonstrate concepts that enable a significant increase in capacity of satellite links through the use of advanced optical technologies. The project will address key technologies such as high-power lasers, high-efficiency waveforms and compensation for atmospheric degradation. The results lead to a demonstrator for high-speed optical connections. The structure is demonstrated and verified on the floor indoors and out. Future applications such as Very High Throughput Satellites (VHTS) with digital payload processing will require an uplink data throughput of around 1 TBit / s. Creonic will develop the part of digital signal processing to ensure reliable and error-free transmission using its core technology,
The VERTIGO consortium consists of eight partners from four different countries. The project will receive EU funding of around € 2.9 million from 1 June 2019 for 36 months.
