M. Holland Broadens Distribution of BASF 3D Printing Solutions with Metal Filament

The agreement with BASF marks M. Holland’s first offering beyond thermoplastic resin material

NORTHBROOK, Ill. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — February 24, 2020 — M. Holland Company, a leading distributor of thermoplastic resins, announced an expanded distribution agreement with BASF 3D Printing Solutions. Adding to its growing portfolio of 3D printing products and services, M. Holland is now distributing Ultrafuse® 316L, a stainless-steel composite filament from BASF. This metal-polymer provides a cost-effective, metal 3D printing solution that employs standard fused filament fabrication (FFF) systems and industry-standard debinding and sintering processes.

“We are excited to broaden our existing relationship with BASF and are fortunate to be among the select organizations authorized to distribute Ultrafuse® 316L,” said Haleyanne Freedman, market manager, 3D Printing at M. Holland. “This metal polymer composite filament is a groundbreaking and industry-changing product that is also cost-effective. Our clients can leverage this distinct material to complement existing plastic injection molding opportunities and a wide array of other applications.”

Ultrafuse® 316L enables plastic injection molders and OEMs to print solid metal parts on a desktop 3D printer for applications including tooling, jigs and fixtures, series production, and functional parts and prototypes. Its distinct formula offers high flexibility and enables series production of 3D printed industrial-grade metal parts.

“By expanding our distribution partnership with M. Holland to now include our Ultrafuse® 316L metal filament for additive manufacturing, we are able to make the printing of metal parts more accessible and affordable to manufacturers,” said Firat Hizal, head of metal systems, BASF 3D Printing Solutions. “As we expand our presence in North America, customers can quickly and reliably create stainless steel parts, utilizing their existing printers and an established debinding and sintering network.”

This distribution arrangement follows a prior agreement with BASF, and enhances a growing portfolio of additive manufacturing materials from suppliers Henkel, Owens Corning and 3DXTech. This highlights M. Holland’s commitment to strategic growth in the 3D printing market. The company is also focused on how ancillary materials can complement its already extensive portfolio of materials and services, including consulting support, prototyping and equipment selection.
