Skydio CEO Adam Bry Appointed to the FAA Drone Advisory Committee

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — January 7, 2021Skydio, the leading U.S. drone manufacturer and world leader in autonomous flight, today announced that Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao has appointed Adam Bry, the Co-Founder and CEO of Skydio, to serve a two-year term on the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Drone Advisory Committee (DAC).

Adam’s appointment comes at a critical time for the Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) industry as advances in autonomous flight and Artificial Intelligence (AI) promise to make the power of drones more broadly accessible to enterprises and government entities, and more valuable than ever before.

“I’m honored to be appointed to the Drone Advisory Committee at this key juncture for the drone industry,” said Adam Bry, Skydio CEO. “There is a clear opportunity for the U.S. to lead the way in creating regulatory and policy frameworks for the safe deployment of these systems. I’m excited to serve on the committee to help make this a reality.”

The DAC consists of 35 executives that advise FAA leadership on the safe and effective integration of drones into the national airspace. Members represent the full spectrum of interests from industry, academia, state and local governments, and drone service providers. Leveraging a holistic understanding of customer needs across a wide range of industries and a bedrock commitment to safety, Adam looks forward to representing the interests of end users, as well as manufacturers, on the committee.

U.S. Department of Transportation and FAA leadership provided statements on the new member appointments in a FAA release issued Tuesday. “The Drone Advisory Committee is key to helping the FAA keep pace with innovation while protecting safety,” said U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine L. Chao. “As the UAS industry continues to evolve, it is important to have DAC members who mirror the many facets of this fast-growing industry. We know the members will help the FAA ensure the highest level of safety while keeping pace with the new and innovative technology for UAS,” said FAA Administrator Steve Dickson.
