Fast Company’s list highlights the businesses at the forefront of their respective industries. These companies set standard with some of the greatest accomplishments of the modern world. In addition to the World’s 50 Most Innovative Companies, 540 organizations are recognized across 54 sectors and regions. Velo3D is recognized in Fast Company’s Manufacturing sector.

“Innovation is at the core of everything we do at Velo3D and each month we take time to recognize innovators within the company to celebrate their contributions and achievements,” said Benny Buller, Velo3D CEO and Founder. “Our primary goal as a company is to build technology that helps our customers innovate, and when you look at what businesses have achieved with our solution, such as advancements in hypersonics, space launch vehicles, rocket and turbine engines, and semiconductor manufacturing equipment, it’s clear we’re succeeding. We thank Fast Company for this recognition.”

Since releasing its original Sapphire printer in 2018, Velo3D has seen strong year-over-year growth due to its ability to produce parts that were not possible with conventional 3D printers. As customers validated its technology and qualified the parts produced for production use, Velo3D’s ability to deliver consistent, repeatable outcomes across different printers with ease drove significant growth. Since then, Velo3D has released its Sapphire XC printer as well as versions of both printers that can print up to 1 meter in height.

In just the past year, Velo3D’s customers have utilized its technology to reach space, deploy satellites, build hypersonic planes and rockets, streamline supply chains, manufacture electric vehicles with improved efficiency, and develop new semiconductor manufacturing technology. Notable customer achievements in the past year include Lockheed Martin, Pratt & Whitney, Launcher (acquired by Vast), Aerojet Rocketdyne, Hermeus, and others.

To produce its World’s Most Innovative Companies list, Fast Company’s editors and writers sought out the businesses making the biggest strides around the globe. They also judged nominations received through their application process. The list provides a firsthand look at the inspiring and innovative efforts of companies across all sectors of the economy.

“What a strange and thrilling year it has been to honor this year’s Most Innovative Companies. This year’s list compiles some of the most cutting-edge groundbreakers who are changing our world every single day, from legacy organizations like McDonald’s to upstarts like MrBeast and institutions such as NASA. Everyone on this list does something completely, uniquely different, yet, they all have one thing in common: innovation,” said Fast Company Editor-in-Chief Brendan Vaughan.

Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies issue (March/April 2023) is available online and on newsstands beginning March 14.

About Velo3D:

Velo3D is a metal 3D printing technology company. 3D printing—also known as additive manufacturing (AM)—has a unique ability to improve the way high-value metal parts are built. However, legacy metal AM has been greatly limited in its capabilities since its invention almost 30 years ago. This has prevented the technology from being used to create the most valuable and impactful parts, restricting its use to specific niches where the limitations were acceptable.

Velo3D has overcome these limitations so engineers can design and print the parts they want. The company’s solution unlocks a wide breadth of design freedom and enables customers in space exploration, aviation, power generation, energy, and semiconductor to innovate the future in their respective industries. Using Velo3D, these customers can now build mission-critical metal parts that were previously impossible to manufacture. The fully integrated solution includes the Flow print preparation software, the Sapphire family of printers, and the Assure quality control system—all of which are powered by Velo3D’s Intelligent Fusion manufacturing process. The company delivered its first Sapphire system in 2018 and has been a strategic partner to innovators such as SpaceX, Honeywell, Honda, Chromalloy, and Lam Research. Velo3D has been named to San Francisco Chronicle’s prestigious annual list of Top Workplaces in the Bay Area 2022.
