Leading all-risk solution for dangers faced by emergency managers and first responders inks agreement to operate in Walton County, Florida
BERKELEY, Calif. , April 23, 2024 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Perimeter, the all-risk solution to addressing the challenges faced by emergency managers and first responders during day-to-day operations and disasters, announced today that it has executed an agreement to add Walton County, Florida to its emergency management platform, which currently operates in California and Nevada.
Perimeter empowers emergency management professionals and first responders to focus on the most important aspects of disaster response and recovery: life safety and streamlined communication.
The app started as a research project out of UC Berkeley, where its creators first saw the need for new communication tools in public safety. Three years later, a team led by Berkeley graduates is continuing to aid responders in their response process, as well as keep themselves and their communities safe.
Walton County joins Florida's Levy County as the first counties to adopt the platform beyond the west.
"We're thrilled and excited to be expanding the groundbreaking technology we have developed with Perimeter into other parts of the country," said Van Riviere, Chief Operating Officer, Perimeter Platform. "Although the types of emergencies and natural disasters in Florida often differ from what we experience in California, Perimeter is designed to easily adapt its innovative features to any type of hazard. We anticipate a smooth alignment and look forward to expanding further into other Florida counties."
Jeff Goldberg, FPEM, FMI, ICT3, Director, Walton County Emergency Management, said:
"For us, it all boils down to how our emergency management process can improve. Walton County needed the capabilities of GIS (Geographic Information Systems) combined with the ease of a user-friendly, public facing map. Using the Perimeter platform will help our residents, visitors, and first responders stay informed on daily road conditions and emergency situations. We have been searching for a mapping interface solution for quite some time, and we're excited to add Perimeter to our toolbox for the upcoming hurricane season."
The Perimeter Platform aids public safety by making critical information like evacuation notices, road closures, and shelter locations available on its user-friendly county map. The platform's evacuation management system allows public safety personnel, news agencies, and residents to easily share the most up-to-date information.
Whether you are mapping your daily commute to keep aware of construction and road closures or seeking information during an emergency incident, individuals can visit Perimeter's public map, with no sign-up or opt-in required.

After every incident, Perimeter conducts after action analysis which features all players reporting on what worked and what could have been done better. Perimeter also works within each county's alert system and provides links to the systems that present maps pointing out important locations in the respective counties.
