Leica Geosystems unveils bold new product line-up, reimagining digital construction layout

The groundbreaking digital layout solution brings industrial precision measurement technology to construction sites, marking another step towards a more software-defined and AI-enabled future of construction.

(Heerbrugg, Switzerland, 11 September 2024)
Leica Geosystems, part of Hexagon, today announced the launch of the new Leica iCON trades solution, which includes the Leica iCON iCS20 and the Leica iCON iCS50 sensors paired with industry-tailored construction layout workflows. The new solution complements the industry-leading Leica iCON build portfolio.

Leica iCON trades prioritises ease of use from start to finish. The Leica vPole enables the user to move around freely while measuring. It seamlessly integrates with the Leica iCON iCS50, which locks to the Leica vPole with its specially developed, unique dot and stripe patterns on the sphere and pole that allows automatic detection of the pole height and compensates for pole tilt. These features enable the error-free layout of points and lines even in inaccessible areas and significantly increase the speed of operation.

“Quicker measurements and layout, reduced waste and rework, and increased efficiency are game changers in construction. Leica iCON trades will catalyse layout automation and speed up workflows without compromising on precision and accuracy,” says Agata Fischer, President of Building Field Solutions at Hexagon’s Geosystems division.

The new Leica iCON trades solution once again showcases Hexagon’s ambition to consistently drive industry convergence. The pioneering 6 degree of freedom (6DoF) technology, to this date exclusive to industrial measurement workflows, is now accessible for everyone in construction, unlocking numerous transformative use cases previously deemed impossible. This elevates efficiency and user-friendliness in layout and other construction workflows.

Designed for fast layout work, the AI-enabled technology solves today’s customer challenges. Computational photography provides the next level of imagery and photorealistic site documentation. AI predicts where the user takes the pole next to improve target lock, tracking and speed up process time to increase layout efficiency. In addition, Leica iCON trades also provides dedicated software-defined and AI-enabled workflows for templating and interior finishing tasks.

Thomas Harring, President at Hexagon’s Geosystems division, is convinced: “Change is a reality in the construction industry, and we are shaping it. Reimagining construction layout means unveiling our most ambitious and significant product line-up of established digital layout solutions and brand-new high-accuracy 6DoF tracking and positioning technology. Get in touch with our experts at upcoming exhibitions or to schedule a demo. With Hexagon, construction layout is teamwork.”
