LONDON, UK – 12 November 2024 – RS, a global product and service solutions provider for industrial customers, today celebrates a decade-long partnership with TraceParts, a global leader in providing digital content management solutions for engineering. Announced at
Electronica 2024, the world’s leading trade fair for electronics, the collaboration has empowered millions of engineers worldwide with access to a vast library of 2D and 3D CAD models, streamlining design processes and accelerating product development cycles.
Since 2011, RS Group and TraceParts have worked together to establish a comprehensive collection of CAD models directly through RS’ established eCommerce platform,
www.rs-online.com, and the popular engineering community platform,
DesignSpark.com. Additionally, the partnership leverages TraceParts’ extensive Publishing Network, allowing suppliers to seamlessly publish 3D models directly on RS’ channels, further enriching the available resources for engineers.
This strategic collaboration has resulted in a remarkable achievement:
over 5 million CAD files downloaded by engineers since January 2011. This significant number underscores the value offered by RS Group and TraceParts to provide immediate access to accurate and up-to-date CAD models. The partnership has helped to:
Reduce design time: Engineers can focus on innovative solutions rather than repetitive tasks by quickly identifying and incorporating necessary components into their projects, eliminating the need for manual modeling or searching for disparate resources.
Enhance design accuracy: Utilising manufacturer-approved CAD models minimises errors and ensures compatibility within the design.
Expand product discovery: The extensive library exposes engineers to a wider range of components, fostering creativity and exploration in the design process.
"By providing our engineering community with a comprehensive library of high-quality CAD models, we are empowering them to design, innovate, and bring their ideas to life more efficiently. This commitment to supporting engineers aligns perfectly with RS Group’s mission to be the essential partner for industrial customers. Attendees of the show can visit us in hall B3, stand 129, to learn more about the partnership and test out the resources available through our DesignSpark community" Mike Bray, Vice President of Innovation and R&D, RS Group
