A major theme of COFES 2006 is the "Innovate Button" which is a hypothetical function in CAD software that generates new product ideas. The conference organizers note, "...IPIFINI's Innovation Engine (discussed at COFES 2005) hints of a future where some aspects of an "innovate" button might become real."
"While we have not yet created an 'innovate button,' IPIFINI has successfully deployed its Innovation Engine databases to help generate patent applications including its patent application for Choice-Enabled Packaging(TM)," said Tod Woolf, Ph.D., founder and President, IPIFINI. "Our introduction of the Choice-Enabled Programmable Liquid Container(TM) at a recent European conference led to extensive media coverage including a New York Post article and articles on innovative product websites, and has generated requests for prototypes from a dozen major companies."
The Innovation Engine technology enables product designers to interactively and systematically alter existing products' form and functionality. The Innovation Engine design automatically searches existing patent databases to determine the uniqueness of a modified product. It also generates tables, graphics and text for patent applications. IPIFINI is offering licenses to its Innovation Engine technology for integration with existing CAD and PLM software.
IPIFINI is a Massachusetts-based technology development corporation that offers licenses to patent applications originated by the IPIFINI Innovation Team and offers collaborative services to create inventions. Members of IPIFINI's team also deliver product development and technology consulting services to leading corporations, including Invitrogen, Signet Laboratories and Praecis Pharmaceuticals.
