Department of Public Utilities at City of Virginia Beach Selects MapText’s Label-EZ

Plainsboro, NJ – June 19, 2007 --  The Department of Public Utilities at the City of Virginia Beach (VA) has successfully integrated Label-EZ, MapText’s automatic text placement software, into its workflow.

The Department recently converted and upgraded its GIS which included an interface with an existing Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). The main objectives for the combined systems have been to: have a complete infrastructure inventory, efficiently manage work orders, give users the ability to schedule maintenance, provide tools for effective customer service, and allow all assets to be spatially located.

An important requirement for the GIS system has been the capability to generate printable maps of the highest cartographic quality. After thorough evaluation the Department selected MapText’s Label-EZ software that has already proved its superior capabilities in a different department of the City, the Center for GIS.

“We have been very happy with the level of support and the benefits Label-EZ has given us. The Department of Public Utilities GIS has increased its productivity due to not having to create and maintain annotation on a daily basis.” City of Virginia Beach Systems Analyst, Clayton R. Wise, commented.

“MapText is proud of the fact that now two different departments at the City of Virginia Beach use Label-EZ. We know that the City has rigorous mapping requirements and we are glad to hear that they have saved enormous amounts of time and money by using our text placement software,” added Shailesh Chanekar, MapText’s Sales Manager.
