New Hardware Solution Boosts System Designer Productivity by Delivering Over 6x in Performance
Flash have become a primary storage medium for various consumer electronic devices, including personal media players, high-end cell phones, navigation devices, and Solid State Drives. Today's system developers require a comprehensive hardware and software solution that addresses all of the performance and reliability requirements for future flash devices utilizing smaller geometries and bit cells.
"System manufacturers face a huge challenge to integrate various NAND chips into their systems," states Nam Hyung Kim, director and principal analyst at iSuppli Corporation. "Therefore, flexible solutions and technologies, developed to speed up OEM's time-to-market and to save BOM costs effectively, represent a large market opportunity."
The new technology is an innovative layer built on top of a Bose, Ray-Chaudhuri, Hocquenghem (BCH) algorithm. As Flash has been utilized for the last few years, controller manufacturers have realized that the cost-related benefits of moving to multi-bit cells have come with inherent quality issues. To address these issues, Denali has teamed with several leading flash manufacturers to provide this superior technology.
A comprehensive overview of this new NAND flash solution will be presented by Robert Pierce, senior director of Flash Products at Denali Software during the 2:00pm presentation, "Hardware/Software Solutions for NAND Applications" at MemCon San Jose. MemCon San Jose, July 17-19, is the world's largest industry conference addressing business, market applications, and technology standards for semiconductor memory and storage. "With this new technology, Denali is addressing not only the silicon resource cost and performance needs of hardware designers developing mobile and consumer electronics," said Robert Pierce. "This solution is well suited for applications that need high-density memory, direct NAND boot with enhanced performance, superior quality and high reliability. We are providing a newly optimized Databahn NAND system solution which enables direct boot from SLC/MLC without having to complicate the boot process."
