Garmin, the Sat-nav giant, slashes prices

August 24, 2007 -- Garmin announced today that it is cutting the price of two of its best-selling in-car sat-nav systems, the nüvi 200 and 250 models by more than 12 per cent. It is also reducing the price of the zûmo, its dual sat-nav for motorbikers and motorists. They already offer all the benefits of a premium system at a fraction of the price, but now Garmin is offering consumers even more value for their money by reducing the price further.

The nüvi 200 will be slashed from its previous Recommended Retail Price (RRP) of £169.99 to £149.99 and the nüvi 250 will now cost RRP £179.99, reduced from £199.99. The nüvi 200 comes with full UK and Ireland mapping whilst the 250 includes Europe as well, making it the perfect choice for those looking to escape our dismal British summer.

Both systems feature the intuitive “where to?” and “view map” welcome screen that allows users to quickly find a specific street address or establishment’s name, or search for a destination by category. Turn-by-turn, voice prompted directions then guide the driver (or pedestrian) to their destination. If they miss a turn along the route, the nüvi automatically recalculates a route and gets them back on track.

Garmin’s dual sat-nav for both cars and motorbikes is also being reduced. The zûmo is designed to stand the rigours of the open air, is waterproof and glove-friendly with left-handed controls and oversized touchscreen buttons.

The zûmo 550 has European mapping, Bluetooth “hands-free-to-helmet” wireless technology capability, pre-loaded safety camera information, a fuel gauge monitor, and a dependable locking mount. It also comes with an automotive mount to fit into a car. It has been reduced from an RRP of £499.99 to £449.99. The zûmo 500D which has regional mapping with European mapping on DVD will now cost £349.99, down from £399.99. The zûmo 400 has been reduced from an RRP of £349.99 to £299.99

These newly reduced products continue Garmin’s evolution of the personal navigational device (PND) – ideal for those consumers that want excellent value for money without compromising on style or quality. All models are exceptionally easy to use and are small enough to put in a your pocket or handbag so you can take them anywhere – from vehicle to vehicle or even out on the street if you’re a pedestrian in unfamiliar territory. Plus at this exceptional price, the nüvi 200 or 250 are a must-have purchase for anyone out and about this summer.
